SNOWBEE FLY FISHING 2016 // TEL +44 (0) 1752 334933 2

Welcome to the 2016 Snowbee catalogueAs we approach our 32nd anniversary, we refl ect on the many changes over the past 1/3rd of a century, since I started the company.

Perhaps one of the largest changes is the take-over of famous brand names in the world of fl y fi shing, by large global corporations. Maybe this is the future, but for now, we are proud to be one of the few remaining, privately owned and family run businesses in the industry.

Our small, Plymouth based team is dedicated to what we do and to serving you, our loyal customers. Our friendly team offers a level of customer service unknown in large corporations and to us, you are a name and quite possibly an ‘old friend’ and not just an account number!

Being small also allows us to be highly fl exible and agile when it comes to product development. Freedom from the bureaucracy of large corporations, allows us to react instantly to new ideas or trends in both fl y and sea fi shing, to bring you, our customers, the very latest ideas in tackle, clothing and equipment.

That said, we are not one to introduce a new range of rods, with new graphics, every season, just for the sake of it. We spend a long time developing our product ranges and the research and development we put into them, ensures they will last a number of seasons, so you are not left with an ‘obsolete rod’ less than a year after buying it, as is often the case with many of our competitors.

Our continuing success is, I believe, fuelled by two simple things; product and service.

We never strive to be the cheapest – just the best! Our design philosophy has always been to develop products 'up to a quality and not down to a price'. Couple this with a customer service, second to none and you have a winning formula, which has stood the test of time for over 30 years.

We hope you enjoy the new catalogue and we’d love to hear your feedback on it. Should you choose Snowbee products during the coming season and beyond, we are confi dent you will have as much fun using them as we had designing and testing them.

Tight lines from the Snowbee team!

Technical Specif ications

Breathable WadersBefore you buy, the MOST important factor to consider is the material specifi cation. Not all breathable materials are the same. The performance of breathable materials, is measured in two ways.

1. Breathability – measured in grams of moisture which can pass through the material per m2 per 24hrs. Snowbee Breathable Wader material can transfer up to an impressive 4,000g/m2/24hrs on all models.

2. Waterproofness – measured as the hydrostatic water pressure the material can withstand – given as the ‘head’ of water, in mm. Many manufacturers use inferior materials, with a hydrostatic pressure rating of less than 5,000mm. Snowbee use only the best materials available, able to withstand a hydrostatic pressure

Breathable Jackets & TrousersThe same applies to our Jackets & Trousers. Most manufacturers use material with a hydrostatic pressure rating of only 3,000mm. Our Prestige Breathable clothing range uses a breathable material with an impressive hydrostatic pressure rating of 8,000mm and a breathability of 4,000g/m2/24hrs and our NEW SFT Wading Jacket has the same breathability, but a class-leading hydrostatic pressure rating of 20,000mm!

Vapour-Tec® - How it all worksSnowbee Vapour-Tec® is a true outdoor fabric. The key to its enhanced performance and unmatched comfort is in the advanced TPU microporous laminate. TPU is a Hydrophilic membrane, the structure of which allows moisture to be wicked away from the body and transferred through the fabric to the outside in the evaporated state. The micro-pores in the TPU laminate are large enough to allow moisture vapour (perspiration) out, but far too small to allow water molecules in, making the fabric totally waterproof. This breathable membrane is laminated to a tough outer shell, combining softness with strength and wind-resistance.

As you warm up inside the garment, the air inside becomes hot and humid, relative to that outside. This raises the vapour pressure inside which forces moisture, in the form of perspiration and condensation, through the PU Breathable membrane, leaving you cool and dry all day long.

Vapour-Tec® - allows moisture to be wicked away from the body quickly and

eff ectively, to leave you cool, dry and comfortable.

Product Care and Original Purchaser Lifetime Guarantee

This guarantee is limited to the Original Purchaser and is not transferable to future owners. In order to implement this guarantee, details of the purchase and the purchaser must be registered with Snowbee (UK) Limited or appointed agent in the country of purchase within 30 days of purchase. Failure to register your purchase will invalidate the guarantee.

If during the lifetime of the original purchaser, the rod should break or fail, for whatever reason, simply return the rod, together with a handling and postage fee of £25*, plus your original invoice, sales receipt, or proof of purchase and we will replace the rod or damaged/faulty part by return. If within the fi rst 12 months from

the date of purchase and if, in the opinion of Snowbee (UK) Ltd, or their appointed agent, the failure is due to manufacturing faults or material defects, then our normal manufacturer’s guarantee will apply and the rod or part will be replaced free of charge, with the handling/postage fee of £25 returned.

Should the rod in question be discontinued it will normally be replaced with a new model up to a similar value, or there is the option to ‘trade up’ to a rod of a higher value, by paying the handling/postage fee, plus the difference in value between the two models. Please note however, that in the case of discontinued models, if purchased in a clearance sale, the

maximum value covered by this guarantee is the price paid and not the original RRP. In all cases, if the customer is unable to provide an acceptable proof of purchase, showing the price paid for the rod, then the maximum warranty value applicable, will be our last sale price for that particular model.

*£25 handling fee applies to UK only for overseas customers please contact the appointed Snowbee agent or contact Snowbee UK Ltd direct for a postage quote. This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights Snowbee (UK) Ltd, reserves the right to amend the handling/postage fee in line with infl ation.

Fly rod breakages and rod careWhilst all Snowbee Fly and Spinning Rods are covered by our Original Purchaser Lifetime Guarantee, carbon fi bre is brittle and rod breakages will inevitably occur resulting in additional cost and inconvenience for the owner.

However, contrary to popular belief, carbon fi bre rods rarely break as a result of the natural fl exing forces during fl y casting. Rods may break during casting or playing a fi sh, as this is when the rod becomes most stressed, but most likely when the caster ‘overloads’ the rod fl ex, or the graphite structure has been otherwise damaged by impact or crushing etc prior to use. To avoid rod breakage we offer the following advice:

Never» Lift fi sh out of the water with the rod – always use a net » Use a fl y line more than one line weight above the rod’s rating » Jerk the rod or use the tip to pull fl ies free from rocks or trees » Support the weight of the rod by the tip section » Pull line through the rod tip, while holding the rod handle » Walk with the rod tip facing forward » Lean a rod against an open car door or boot – someone is sure to close the door on it » Place a rod on the ground – someone is sure to stand on itAlways» Exercise care when netting a fi sh, not to over-compress the tip of the rod – a common cause of rod breakages.» Transport and store the rod in its rod tube » Try to avoid rod impact damage: goldheads or any weighted fl ies can be travelling in excess of 80mph. Hitting the rod blank will easily cause stress fractures » Applying a little candle wax to new joints can prevent them coming apart during casting

Double handed ‘Spey’ rodsSpey-casting involves a circular casting motion that can cause rod joints to work loose. We strongly recommend that you tape all joints prior to use.

Wader sole choiceWe produce a range of soles, each designed for a specifi c purpose:

» The Cleated sole, is most suitable for general use on sand, mud, shingle etc. » The Combi-Sole incorporates a felt-sole and deep cleated heel. » This is unique and the heavy-duty heel digs in on wet grass or muddy banks, whilst the felt-sole gives unsurpassed grip on rocks etc in the fastest of rivers. Trials have shown that there is no loss of grip in the river by not having a felt-heel, if unsure of your footing, you naturally transfer the weight to the balls of your feet – where you need and fi nd the grip! » For additional grip our Screw-in Studs may be added to the heels of Felt-Sole or Cleated sole waders.

Wader careAll Snowbee waders are made from synthetic materials, which are not susceptible to cracking or perishing, like the old rubber waders were. The sun will however degrade synthetic materials, so it is recommended that waders are stored out of direct sunlight.

Creasing, whilst unsightly, does not adversely affect the performance of waders and the best way of avoiding this is to hang the waders upside down in a Snowbee Wader Rack – see page 102.

After use in saltwater, or brackish water, the waders should always be washed down with fresh water and felt soles should always be hosed off well with fresh water, after every fi shing trip, to remove mud deposits. Without this, the soles will become hard, wear faster, be less effective and cause the soles to become rigid and peel off.

Customer Service PolicyWe pride ourselves on our exceptional Customer Service. We are delighted to hear from customers and should you require any help, advice or technical information on any Snowbee products, please telephone, fax or email us on the numbers given on the back cover. Alternatively, you might like to log on to our website www.snowbee.co.uk where we have a page solely dedicated to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s).

The Snowbee team includes both fl y and sea fi shermen and experts on all product lines. They will be able to answer any query you may have.

Whilst it is always a pleasure to hear from satisfi ed customers, we also welcome any comments, suggestions or criticism. It is only through customer feedback that we can continue to improve our product range.

Returns PolicyAll Snowbee products are covered by our 12 month warranty. During this period, if any manufacturing or material fault develops, the item will be replaced, or repaired (at our discretion) without question.

Please note however, that particularly in the case of waders and footwear, this warranty does not cover accidental damage, punctures, fair wear and tear or seam damage caused by incorrect choice of size. The Snowbee warranty does not extend to the commercial use of any item. In the unlikely event that a problem develops on a Snowbee product, you should fi rst contact the retailer who supplied the goods. Should it be necessary to return the goods to us for inspection, a receipt or proof of purchase must be enclosed. We regret that we are unable to deal with any returns without such proof of purchase.

Please note that under EU Health and Safety regulations, our staff are not permitted to handle dirty or wet items of clothing or footwear.

To avoid disappointment, delays and additional costs, please ensure that any items returned are in a clean, dry condition.

Age Restricted ProductCustomers are reminded that legislation prohibits the sale or hire of specifi c products to persons under certain ages and proof of age must always be ascertained. This includes offensive weapons and volatile/harmful substances, but does not preclude the sale of solvents for the purpose of their normal intended use.

To prolong the life of all Snowbee waders and clothing...● Ensure you have the correct size of waders – this can make all the difference in the life expectancy of waders – see page 39 for details.

● Avoid contamination by grease, or any oil based fl uids. These can severely reduce the integrity of the fabric. In the event of contamination rinse the garment immediately in lukewarm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

● Avoid sharp objects which may cause punctures to the material.

● Waders should be rinsed with fresh water after use, paying particular attention to felt soles on boots.

● Hang waders by the boots, in a Snowbee Wader Rack to allow drying out. See page 102 for details.

● An application of Snowbee Wader Fresh or Boot Spray will keep your waders free of unpleasant odours. See page 103 for details.

If you fi nd it necessary to wash breathable clothing then a gentle non-biological detergent should be used. The garment may be re-proofed by using breathable reproofi ng products such as Grangers XT or NikWax TX products.
