It is recognized that there are inherent risks to the sport of snowmobiling and the prudent snowmobiler should be aware of such risks and take necessary precautions. Speed limit on trails is 45 miles per hour. 2. Stay on designated trails while traveling through restricted areas. 3. Pack out all trash. 4. Be aware of oncoming traffic. KEEP RIGHT; two-way traffic. 5. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. 6. Watch out for moose, elk, and bison on trails. Snowmobile Safety 1. Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return. 2. Do not ride alone. Traveling in a group is much safer than riding alone. 3. Be familiar with your snowmobile. Become familiar with its controls and operation before going on extended trips. 4. Always wear adequate winter clothing and protective glasses, goggles, or face shields. 5. Always carry basic emergency and survival equipment (see below). Recommended Survival Kit Avalanche probe, beacon, and shovel Waterproof matches in waterproof container Disposable lighter, platic whistle, and flashlight First Aid Kit, space blanket, candles, and knife High energy food Map, compass, GPS Extra drive belt, spark plugs, and tool kit 50 feet of 1/4 inch rope This map is for general navigation only. Do not use this map for backcountry travel. Buy USGS topographic maps at ranger stations. Snowmobile Registrations Idaho and Montana State Law requires snowmobile registrations on all snowmobiles. Snowmobile operators must have valid registration for both states if planning to ride in both Idaho and Montana. Registrations are available at local vendors throughout the area. Registration fees are used for trail grooming, parking lot plowing, signing, clearing groomed trails, avalanche forecasting, avalanche classes, and new rider classes. Snowmobile Registrations Idaho and Montana State Law requires snowmobile registrations on all snowmobiles. Snowmobile operators must have valid registration for both states if planning to ride in both Idaho and Montana. Registrations are available at local vendors throughout the area. Registration fees are used for trailgrooming, parking lot plowing, signing,clearing groomed trails, avalanche forecasting, avalanche classes, and new riderclasses.
