Public-private partnership between

Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign

Affairs, SES, HITEC Luxembourg and

the Luxembourg Air Ambulance

The platform addresses two vital

requirements in emergency situations:

• Rapid deployment on site to cover the

communications needs in the immediate

aftermath of a disaster

• Control and management capability

allowing quick and efficient sharing of

information about the situation on site

First deployment in 2012, South

Soudan

Latest deployment in 2013 in Tacloban,

Philippines after the destruction by

typhoon Haiyan

The typhoon Haiyan response was the first deployment of

emergency.lu to a sudden onset disaster offering free connectivity

to all the humanitarian actors.
