Sewing Instructions1. Sew (1) 2” x 37” Fabric B strip to each side of the 22 ½” x 37” Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 25 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel. Trim the block to measure 24 ½” x 40 ½” to make the Center Block (Fig. 1)

2. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8” Fabric D strip to each side of (1) 8” Fabric K Orange block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 10” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric K block. Trim the block to measure 9” square to make (1) Unit 1 square (Fig. 2). Repeat to make a second Unit 1 square.

3. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 9” Fabric L strip to each side of (1) Unit 1 block. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 10 ½” Fabric L strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 1 block to make (1) Unit 2 square (Fig. 3). Repeat to make a second Unit 2 square.

4. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8” Fabric D strip to each side of (1) 8” Fabric K Purple block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 10” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric K block. Trim the block to measure 9” square to make (1) Unit 3 square (Fig. 4). Repeat to make a second Unit 3 square.

5. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 9” Fabric L strip to each side of (1) Unit 3 square. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 10 ½” Fabric L strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 3 square to make (1) Unit 4 square (Fig. 5). Repeat to make a second Unit 4 square.

6. Sew (2) 1 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric C strips and (2) 1 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric D strips together lengthwise and alternating them to make (1) Unit 5 square (Fig. 6). Repeat to make (32) Unit 5 squares total.

7. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, trace the listed number of each template onto the paper side of the fusible web. Roughly cut out each template about 1/8” outside the drawn lines.

8. Press each template onto the wrong side of the fabrics as listed on the templates. Cut out each template on the drawn lines.

9. Refer to Figure 7 to arrange and press (1) Fabric E Tombstone onto (1) Unit 5 square.

10. Finish the raw edges of the Tombstone with a decorative stitch such as a buttonhole or satin stitch to make (1) Unit 6 square.

11. Repeat Steps 9-10 to make (6) Unit 6 squares total.

12. Repeat Steps 9-10 and refer to Figures 8-11 for component identification and location to make (5) Unit 7 squares, (11) Unit 8 squares, (5) Unit 9 squares and (5) Unit 10 squares.

21. Sew (1) Unit 2 square to the left side of (1) Unit 15 strip. Sew (1) Unit 4 square to the right side of the Unit 15 strip to make (1) Top Border strip (Fig. 20 below).

24. Sew the Top and Bottom Borders onto the Center Block to make the quilt top. Pay attention to the orientation of the border strips.

25. Layer and quilt as desired.

26. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric B strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

27. Bind as desired.

Center Block
