President’s News

TODAY IS A DIFFERENT WORLD

Before the internet, email, texting and instant messaging, life was much simpler. I have to admit, it is nice having instant access to infor-mation. When you have a question, you just ask Siri and get the answer.

That technology also allows you to open a new account online, apply for a loan, view your account balances on your phone and make transfers between accounts easily.

All this access must be monitored to protect you, and criminals are work-ing harder than ever to steal your information and your money. We partner with a news source called “Stickley on Security” to provide you with great information on how to protect yourself from Identity theft and be safe online.

View these latest articles on cyber-security on our website, under the Resources menu in a section called Security Center. Here you will find the latest news from the cybersecurity world, updated regularly. Take a mo-ment to look at some of the articles to learn the latest in phishing emails, malicious apps, and ransomware. Fraud attempts are on the rise. Be informed and protect yourself.

Kevin Wilmoth President

We love social media these days. Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, LinkedIn, and many others can lead to lots of sharing and fun, but also carry significant risks. This is particularly true now that cybercriminals are collating data and using it against us for targeting phishing attacks.

Online social networks may seem all in fun and harmless, but they are anything but that. Anyone participating in a social network online assumes some risk of becoming a victim of a con artist or

other criminal. But this does not mean you should opt out of getting involved. It’s part of our society, and in some cases an important part of doing business. Just be aware of the risks and take action to avoid being a victim of identity theft or another cybercrime.
