Advantages:• Forces staff to systematically go through every step in a structured process.• Enforces quality by maintaining standards.• Has lower probability of missing important issues in collecting user requirements.
Disadvantages:• May produce excessive documentation.• Users may be unwilling or unable to study the specifications they approve.• Takes too long to go from the original ideas to a working system.• Users have trouble describing requirements for a proposed system.
