Optimize your social media profiles
Be descriptive as possible. Always fill out the ‘About’ or ‘Information’ sections of any social media platform. Be sure to use 2-3 business keywords that describe your business and are also terms individuals would use to search for your business.
Optimize your social media profiles
The “Category” field is often overlooked on Facebook Pages but is important for Facebook mobile searches. Check to make sure your business is listed as the correct category while editing your basic information
Optimize your social media content/updates Always include some of the relevant search keywords you determined for your business in your Facebook or G+ updates, tweets, pin descriptions, etc. It’s important to remember to share content from your website or blog socially to give it an SEO boost too. Sharing new content on G+ is especially important because it helps Google index it faster (indexing means Google adds this URL to their database).
Build links by making your content shareable
Likes, comments, +1s, repins, retweets, etc., all play into the weight given to your links. If you create content people want to share, you can create more inbound links. “Content” doesn’t always have to be as elaborate as a blog post or whitepaper, content can also refer to tweets or Facebook posts as well. By posting engaging social content, you’re improving your SEO value
Use Pinterest
An easy way to create shareable content is by using Pinterest. Google indexes pages from websites with heavy traffic faster and higher in a SERP. Add keywords within the title of a Pinterest board, the board’s description and individual pin Customize the pin’s link and point people back to your website or blog.
Google Plus & Search • 9,400 percent increase in followers

fans- up from just 222,000 in 2011 • Emerged as the second largest global
social media network • 343 million active users in Q4 2012
Google Plus & Search ü Around 36% of fortune top 100 companies have G+
profiles whilst only 3% of them have the authorship mark up in place
ü 45% of tech sites though use Google authorship.
ü Only 7% of Google’s own blogs use authorship.
Why should you care about Google+?
Within search results, information tied to verified online profiles will be ranked higher than content without such verification, which will result in most users naturally clicking on the top (verified) results. The true cost of remaining anonymous, then, might be irrelevance. Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google
Google Authorship “We know that great content comes from great authors, and we’re looking closely at ways this markup could help us highlight authors and rank search results.” – Othar Hansson (Google Authorship Project)
Google Authorship Markup
Structured data markup using microdata from schema.org will be interpreted as authorship information as well.
Author Rank Author Rank is about fusing the web of people with the web of
documents and creating a more savvy view of Internet
influence.
Author Rank & Search Rankings “It’s just the case that that picture is just more likely to attract attention. It’s just a little more likely to get the clicks, and you now, it’s almost like an indicator of trust…you could imagine that starting to affect rankings.”
Checklist to Improve Author Rank

More Google+ Tips
• Spend 10-minutes a day on it
• Create a Google+ Local listing. According to Google, 97 per cent of consumers search for local businesses online.
• A Local Google+ page is different from a Google+ Business Page. It allows customers to easily connect with that business’s physical location.
• Update the details about your business–address,
phone number, hours, etc.–and you’re good to go!
ü Not making your business’s social media sites public.
ü Creating a Facebook Profile instead of a Facebook Page.
ü Not customizing your Facebook URL.
ü Not using your business’s name as your Facebook Page name or Twitter name.
ü Uploading images to your social channels with file names such as: Photo1 or IMG1287
ü Duplicating another website’s content.
