The ClientObjective

Matt Garcia Design is an architecture firm based in Austin, TX.

The firm opened in September 2011.

The client had no social-media presence prior to this case-study.

The client’s budget for marketing is extremely low as he is a start-up company.

Welcome to my exploration of designing for the greater good. When my professor asked me what drives my passion for design... I answered “I love connecting people and helping them succeed. I love seeing the people that I have helped happy... Seeing their faces light up when I have created something that helps them communicate their message without saying a word is an incredible feeling!”

I have never been one to completely embrace social media. I’ve never really wanted to put myself out there for the whole world to see. But if I could use it to do some kind of good for others, then I can see a reason for it! Thus the beginning of my blog. I want to explore designing for the greater good.

I am currently helping out a friend with a start-up. I want to be able to provide his company with the best branding and design as possible. Through that, I hope to develop a case study of pro-bono branding. And further develop a “guide” for start-ups who are on a tight budget, but still need to get their name out there.

Results:

- Client has engaged (slowly) in social media. Twitter has become his main outlet- Client set up instagram to share photos of projects- Local publications have been receptive of supporting start-up company
