It is an indication of the importance and utility of mathematics in social life. There is no aspects of life which does not require mathematics. Mathematics is not taught for mathematics sake but for its social importance and usefulness.

Mathematics has to be taught by correlating it with different aspects and activities of human life to enable children to become useful members of the society. Mathematics is useful in various socially relevant programme like banking, accounting, trade etc. only by appreciating this social relevance can the learning of the subject be made meaningful to the students
