conocido como "Joselito." Él se ofreció para luchar contra el persecución del

Gobierno Mexicano contra la Iglesia durante la Guerra de los Cristeros. Fue arrestado y en la cárcel le escribió a su madre: "Es fácil ganar el cielo." Le

cortaron la planta de los pies y lo obligaron a

caminar por la ciudad hasta el lugar de su ejecución. Le

pidieron que gritara "Muerte a Cristo Rey," y en

el cementerio local, los soldados lo apuñalaron con

su bayonetas hasta que murió. En el suelo, dibujó una cruz y la besó. Él es

amado en su ciudad natal de Sahuayo. Fue canonizado

en16 de octubre de 2016. Su fiesta es el 10 de febrero. Agradecemos al Sr. Carlos

Saint Jose Sanchez del Rio

known as “Joselito,” he volunteered to fight the Mexican Government’s

persecution of the Church during the Cristero War. He was arrested and in jail he wrote to his mother “So

easy to gain Heaven.” The bottoms of his feet were cut

off and he was forced to walk through town to the place of his execution. He was asked to shout “Death

to Christ the King,” he rejected and at the local

cemetery the soldiers stabbed him with their

bayonets until he died. On the ground he drew a cross and kissed it. He is loved in his hometown of Sahuayo.

He was canonized on October 16, 2016. His Feast day is February 10th. We are grateful to Mr. Carlos

Guerra of Guerra Gutierrez Mortuary for the donation

of the tile artwork.

another, and with creation. Christ our Lord, both divine and human, You lived among us and died for our sins. Help us to imitate your love for the human family by recognizing that we are all connected— to our brothers and sisters around the world, to those in

poverty impacted by environmental devastation, and to future generations.

REQUIREMENTS We ask that you please bring your child’s BAPTISM CERTIFICATE when you register your child. If you

do not have the certificate, please go to the church where your child was baptized and obtain a copy.

♦ The registra on fee is $75 per child per year (includes book). 7th Grade and above $100.00 (includes book)

♦ The registra on fee for Confirma on is $200 (includes registra on, retreat & gown rental). The student must be between 10th thru 12th grade. Student MUST belong to the parish. *Confirma on classes begin Sept. 10th & First Communion classes begin Sept. 29 & 30*

sacramentos de iniciación (Bautismo, Confirmación y Eucaristía).

becoming Catholic? This September, we will start the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

(RCIA) here at Resurrection Church. The RCIA is a process by which adults prepare for the sacra-

ments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist).

Tiles engraved with the names of Resurrection Parish family and friends are available for $200. Engraved tiles will be displayed on the exterior wall of the Church, on the side courtyard adjacent to the Convent next to St.

Francis statue. Tiles make wonderful honorary or memorial gifts for loved ones. Proceeds from the sale of tiles will be used to cover operational costs of the church

and school. This is a great way to leave your legacy, honor a loved one and support the good work

of the parish in the community.
