Then the entertainers go down to start the Robbie Burns Show at 11:30 a.m. The show consists of piping, singing, highland dancing, poetry reading and the Address to the Haggis. Once the address is finished, the entertainers are piped to the kitchen, and the serving begins. It takes about 40 minutes and we serve 900 plus people depending on the weather and the UOIbs of haggis the Society supplies is eagerly anticipated by many of the clients. When all the dinners have been served; please stay for dinner | upstairs. The meal we provide is one of the most anticipated dinners of the year and the cli- ents ''mark" it on their calendar! Highland Games Report Budget Meeting 2016 The Foothills Highland Games, 27 August had moderate attendance with cool overcast weather. Calgary Highland games, 3 September, were well attended with good weather, and the Canmore Highland Games, 4 September, were cool unt i l the clos­ing ceremonies. The Society Choir sang 'Oh Canada ' in Engl ish and Gaelic, and the Society President, Robert Henderson was the Chieftain of the Day at Calgary. The Society Pipers participated in the massed bands. A big thank you to al l Society members who assisted in looking af­ter the tent and greeting visitors. Over the period of the games, about 40 new members joined the Society.

T h e Society 's 2017 Operat ions Budget was passed at a meet ing held at the Confederation Park 55+ Ac t i v i t y Centre on Saturday, 17 Sep­tember. Fo r t y members were pre­sent, and the meet ing took about 15 minutes, after careful consideration and scrutiny. T h e meet ing was fol­lowed by an evening o f Scott ish Coun t r y dance to the music o f G l e n M o r i n held in conjunction w i th a R S C D S - Ca lgary Branch's W e l ­come Back event. A l i ght buffet was served and the evening was enjoyed by a l l , wrapp ing up at about 10:30pm.

The heavy weight ma­terial cost for a man's k i l t is under $320 wi th construct ion being an added cost. RSCDS Hogmanay

The Calgary Branch of the Royal Scot­tish Country Dance Society will host their New Year's celebration on 31 December at Confederation Park 55+ Centre, 2212-13 St NW. Doors open at 6:30pm for cocktails and dinner is at 7:00pm-roast beef. Haggis and all the trimmings. Dancing from 8:30 to midnight with Glen Morin. Tickets are $50 for RSCDS Calgary Branch members and $55 for non-members and Includes sparkling wine to ring in the new year. Tickets are also available on the web­site (rscdscalgarv.org) or Debby Hen­derson ( 403-245-5514) or Ann Van-derwal (403-912-8086).

Scots Gathering in Canmore 2016 The second Scott ish C u l t u r a l Weekend was a great suc­cess wi th 95 registrants who were able to enjoy classes i n Scott ish Country Danc ing , Mus i c , Gael ic Language, La ­dies Step Dance, Needlework, Celt ic Drawing, Longsword Dance, Piping, Wh isky Tasting, and classes for men and women's h igh land dress. While numbers were down from last year, visitors were able to j o in us from a l l over A l ­berta, as wel l as B C , the Uni ted States and Scot­land. The mus ic ians from Glen Mor in had been work ing wi th C a l u m M a c K i n n o n and provided excellent mus ic for both the Three Sisters Ce i l idh and the Wi ld Rose Ba l l . It was wonderful to dance to such talent. The weather was cool wi th some glorious fall views of the mounta ins and streams around Canmore . A special thanks to R S C D S Calgary B r a n c h , the Canmore Coast Ho­tel, Dennis & Mor in Orr , Andrew Joo, Freda Osborne, Sharon Barker , Debby Henderson, Nonie Sundst rom, Catherine Hand, Caro l J o h n s o n , and Robert Hender­son for a l l their contr ibut ions to the suc­cess of this venture. KILT SKATE 2017 The Society is exploring the possibility of hosting the Kilt Skate 2017. This event is proposed for Olympic Plaza on a Sun­day afternoon in February, and members are encouraged to come out, wear your kilt, have some refreshments, and enjoy the experience.
