San Diego’s cleantech cluster collaborates with Canada

• Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) encourages cleantech companies in San Diego to go public on the Toronto exchange by emphasizing its expertise in cleantech financing and related issues. The TSX has held cleantech roadshows in San Diego for the last few years.

• Canadian cleantech and renewable energy companies (e.g. Morgan Solar, H2O Innovation, Capital Power) have established subsidiaries in San Diego, partly to get access to employees in this area with specialized skills.

• Canada California Strategic Innovation Partnership connects research scientists on both sides of the border in areas such as ICT, cleantech, and life sciences.

• San Diego Center for Algae Biotechnology, a consortium of academic and industrial scientists working to commercialize algal biofuels and industrial algal biotechnologies met with Canada’s National Research Council, Institute for Marine Biology to explore possibilities of working together on algae research.

1. Det krävs ett regionalt uppdrag och en regional ledaridentitet –

legitima hjältar – som kan bygga broarna och leda i ”mellanrummen”

(privat - offentligt, stad – landsbygd, vatten – land

2. Från trippel helix (3) till ett penta eller multi helix (5) dvs. alla

sektorer måste vara med i utvecklingen – inte minst ideell sektor !!

3. Det regionala uppdraget går från internt organisatoriskt till externt

territoriellt perspektiv (intern kontroll extern kontroll)

4. Det offentliga regionala samhället måste (tillsammans med andra)

bygga ”dansbanan & mötesplatserna” för att kunna skapa

attraktivitet, tillväxt och hållbar utveckling – genom framtidens

samhällsentreprenörer

5. Mobilitet och den nya lyxen – utrymme, tystnad, stjärnljus och mörker-

hitta balansen med landsbygden i stadsutvecklingen!!
