    Care for Upholstery

    Synthetic Leather Upholstery

    Weekly Maintenance:

Dust off light dirt/ particles and wipe with a clean, damp cloth. You may use a

mild soap but be sure to wipe thoroughly after r insing the soap water. Allow to

dry. Perspiration, grime, body oil, hair cream or gel will damage the leather if

    not removed often.

    Removing Stains:

Synthetic leather is quite water resistant and coffee or tea spillage will not

stain unless left to soak for a long time. Many stains can be removed by a

mild soap solution applied with gentle rubbing. After general cleaning, rub

over stain gently with cloth dampened with soap water. Do not use detergent

or aerosol. Wipe with a cloth dampened with clean water. Allow to dry before

polishing with a soft dry cloth.

    Fabric Upholstery

    Weekly Maintenance:

    Removing Stains:

For fabric chairs the chair fabric should be vacuum cleaned

    at least once a week.

For stains due to liqueurs, wine, drinks, tea and milk: use a dry,

clean cloth to remove the matter that has not been absorbed.Dampen the stain with warm water and rub gently with a neutral

soap. Rinse thoroughly and after drying, brush the fabric with a

    soft brush.

If the spill is chemically reactive, immediate

blotting (avoid rubbing/ spreading) is required to

    minimize possible fading of colour.

Promptly treat spots and stains. (An international

    Fabricare study confirmed the detrimental

effects of allowing stains to age, when they could

have been successfully removed, if treated

immediately. After one week, 20% of stains

could not be removed. After 3 weeks, 50% of

stains could not be removed. If stain hasoxidized, or totally hardened, it forms an

insoluble product that cannot be removed).

It is advisable to pre-test any cleaning solution on your sofa

upholstery for color loss and fabric compatibility. The pre-test

can be done on the rear/ invisible part of the sofa.

Protect from the sun. Ultraviolet light can cause deterioration.

Keep pets off of furniture. Pet's body oils rub off and are very

    difficult to remove.

When large areas must be cleaned, it is

recommended that a professional cleaning firm

    be employed.

It is important that one carefully protects the

upholstery of the chair against sharp objects or

objects with sharp edges to prevent tearing of the

    upholstery.

For removing stains of ink, cosmetics, shoe polish, oil and

grease: dampen the stain with warm water and rub gently with a

neutral soap. Rinse thoroughly and after drying, brush the fabric

    with a soft brush.

    Care for Wooden Parts

    Do

Cleaning and dusting your furniture on a regular basis will help to extend the life of

the product. Dusting is best done with a mildly damp cotton cloth. Before

dusting, moisten cloth lightly with mild non-alkaline soap and water. A dry cloth

can leave hairline scratches on the finish. Ensure that no water is left in the

grooves and edges after cleaning as this will result in beginning of the

deterioration of the wood which will ultimately result in swelling and weakening of

    the structure.

Clean spills immediately preferably by blotting with a soft and dry cloth/ sponge.

For natural wooden/ natural veneered surfaces, hire a professional to polish the

    furniture once a year.

    Dont

Avoid contact of solvents, alcohol, nail polish and polish removers with the furniture surface.

Avoid sliding of objects across the furniture's surface. Always lift and place the object.

Do not allow sharp objects to come in contact with the furniture.

Avoid long duration water contacts as water along with corrosive substances may

    damage parts of the products.

Avoid placing the furniture in direct sunlight, hot conditions (near fireplaces,

heaters, radiators) and damp conditions (areas like basement, attic, garages and

areas prone to leakage, seepages) to prevent deterioration in the furniture quality.

Do not polish processed wooden surfaces (laminated, membrane pressed).

With proper care, these surfaces will maintain their finish.

Avoid using abrasive cleaning agents like nitro based thinners, acetone, nail varnish

remover as these can damage the surface.

While mopping the floor, avoid contact of the mop with the sofa legs as prolonged

contact may result in fading of the finish/ colour.

    Care for Metal Parts

    Do

Surfaces to be regularly cleaned and dusted on a regular basis to extend the

life of the product. The surface can be cleaned with a soft moist cloth and a

neutral soap followed by a dry cloth to wipe it completely dry.

For chrome plated surfaces the above process should be followed. Occasionally

and for removing stubborn marks and stains chrome polish should by applied.

The polish should then be wiped out with a clean towel after burnishing.

Avoid long duration water contacts as water along with corrosive substances may damage parts of

    the products.

Avoid exposure of furniture to damp conditions to prevent deterioration of furniture quality.

Do not use abrasive cleaners as these tend to scratch or dull metal surfaces.

This particularly is important for chrome surfaces, where vinegar, nail varnish remover,

nitro based thinners, petrol, should never be used for cleaning.

Do not use steel wool or scouring pads to clean the metal parts.

Defects arising due to natural wear & tear/ property of basic material used:

Wood is a natural product and as such natural wood surfaces have irregularities in their structure and colour which are

unavoidable. Such irregularities are characteristic features of natural wood. However, processed wood surfaces show

more uniformity in terms of structure and colour.

Natural wood shrinks or expands in conditions of extreme low or high atmospheric moisture respectively.

Leather/ Synthetic leather is a natural product, and as such each hide will reflect its own individuality. Leather/

Synthetic leathers have natural markings such as variation in grains, wrinkles, skin folds, cleanly healed scars orpatterns of original hair follicles which are inherent in leather and are no quality defects. Colour variation within and

between hides is normal and expected. Over time, leather will stretch and produce a soft puddling effect and wrinkling.
