Solar Energy!

The Great Sun PowerSolar Energy is a renewable resource. The way Solar

Panels work is that it takes the photons from the sun and puts it into the photovoltaic, then the photovoltaic turns the photons into electrons, then the electrons flow into the house.

AdvantagesAn advantage of Solar Panels are that it saves

much energy with energy bills. Also helps the environment by not using gas or

coal as an energy source. It is a green energy source.

DisadvantagesA disadvantage is that it does not work at night. Solar panels can be VERY expensive. If a day happens to be overcast, you don’t have

power. Storing the energy has to be implemented and is

sometimes difficult to do.

Britain's first solar panel uncovered after 60 years... and it still works Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1264487/Worlds-solar-panel-uncovered-60-years--works.html#ixzz1pu9kx7Nr

HistoryDuring the 1970s, there appeared to be oil

shortfalls after the 1973 oil embargo struck. The shortfall in oil, caused an alternative method

to be produced that would allow other types of energy sources to be used as a replacement for oil.

Government made some investments and changes to solve this problem.

They allocated $400 million per year for solar energy research.

HistoryThe first ever solar panel has been uncovered

after being hidden away forgotten in a box for 60 years - and incredibly, it STILL works.

History-The First Solar PanelThe amazing contraption is the brainchild of a British

science teacher who wanted to prove to his friends that it was possible to turn sunlight into electricity.

In 1950 he spent hours slaving in his laboratory to complete his cell based on the junction semiconductor idea patented in 1946 by Russell Ohl.

How much are solar panels used today? In most rural places in the developing world there is no

electrical supply at night to light up homes, streets, schools and hospital.

Children cannot see to learn and adults cannot be productive.

Solar power can also be used to run other pieces of equipment such as computers and refrigerators.

ResidentialThe number of PV installations on buildings connected to

the electricity grid has grown in recent years. Government subsidy programs (particularly in Germany

and Japan) and green pricing policies of utilities or electricity service providers have stimulated demand.

How much are solar panels used today? Cont’dHoliday or vacation homes without access to the

electricity grid can use solar systems more cost-effectively than if the grid was extended to reach the location.

CalculatorsThe use of solar panels keeps growing.
