Motivation to implement a Solar Fuel Saversystem
• The price for PV systems has decreased by more than 60% in the last 3 years
• Fuel costs for diesel generators are constantly rising
• Especially interesting for gensets in continuous power applications
In many countries, PV-Diesel Systems present an economically viable solution, already today. This effect will even increase in the next years.

Today
Generation costs by diesel generators
For most sunbelt countries (colored in green)• Generation costs by diesel generators are > 0,30 € / kWh• Generation costs in the same area by PV < 0,15 € / kWh

Definition
• Solar power is directly fed into
the diesel generator mini-grid
• No batteries are needed
• Reduction of fuel consumption
thanks to solar energy
• The SFS controller manages the
solar power output according to
the operation of the diesel
generator
The Solar Fuel Saver is a controller allowing the direct integration of photovoltaic power
plants into fossil fuel powered mini-grids.
Specifications:
Display as single point of operation
• Reduced fuel consumption of the diesel generators up to 50% depending on load profile and climate
conditions
• Less dependency on oil price fluctuations
• Short payback time: approximately 4 years based on a diesel price of 1 €/liter
• Low investment costs (as no batteries are required)
• Flexible controlling possibilities of the diesel generator
The Solar Fuel Saver is the perfect solution to cut down on generation costs of existing or new
diesel generator grids.
Juwi Solar Fuel Saver - Advantages
Functionality of the SFS
The solar power reduces the power
generated by the diesel generator.

As soon as the generator reaches critical
partial load operation, the SFS controller
decreases the power output of the solar
plant.
Technical features
• The Solar Fuel Saver can be integrated into existing or new
diesel generator grids. It operates with all standard generators
(isochronous or droop controlled).
• By regulating the solar power output, the SFS controller
guarantees an optimized operation of the diesel generator
• Protection against min. partial load
• Reverse power protection
• Flexible reactive power controlling
• Additional control options of the diesel generator: time based,
partial load
• Integrated data logging of system performance
• Remote monitoring via internet (optional via GSM)
• Simple installation (plug and play)

Mining Industry
Industry and agriculture
Daytime loads as air-conditioning, pumping and cooking can be covered
Supermarkets, offices, craft shops have load profiles with peak consumption at daytime Individual solutions for small villages with special load profiles
High suitability due to constant loads at relatively high power output in remote areas
High solar fraction possible, as electrical consumption for pumping and cooling can be adapted to irradiation curve
