Basics:The stage is 78ft wide by 28ft at its deepest point. As the depth of the stage varies,please see the stage diagram for a more specific breakdown.
The facility is heated and air conditioned.
A supervisor with a professional staff is present at all times to respond to requests.
Our tables, chairs, up to 4 microphones and podium are included in your rental fee ifneeded. A projector can be rented for $200. Our projector connects to most laptopsand DVD players. Clients provide and operate the laptop. We encourage clients tobring in their equipment for a test run prior to the event to ensure the equipment iscompatible.
Event riders, when applicable, are required prior to the issuing of a contract.
Event timelines and set ups should be provided to Soldiers & Sailors as soon as possible, but no later than 2 weeks prior to the event date.
Decorations and sign placement may not cause damage to the facility. Nothing can betaped, stapled, pinned or nailed to any surfaces.
There may be an event scheduled in an alternate space or at an alternate time in thebuilding the day of your event if you have not rented the entire building for the day.Please note, only the rooms and times mentioned specifically in your contract may beutilized for your event.
Our staff arrives at 7:00a.m. You may access the facility any time thereafter with an all day rental. The building is normally staffed for 7:00a.m. to 11:00p.m. the day of an event. Events must end by 11:00p.m., unless otherwise specified. 1 hour is allotted for load out.
Audio Visual Equipment:Soldiers & Sailors can provide a podium, 1 lavaliere microphone or 1 handheld microphone (not both) along with 3 microphones with cords, and a 20ft by 20ft drop down screen.
AV companies must be selected from Soldiers & Sailors’ authorized vendor list. Clients are not permitted to plug into our system without hiring one of our authorized A/V techs. We encourage all clients to hire an A/V tech from one of ourauthorized companies as one is not included in the auditorium rental.
The auditorium is equipped with an Electrovoice banana ray stereo surround soundsystem.
Basic stage and house lighting are available. Lights cannot be dimmed, but various sets of lights can be turned off to achieve a certain effect. For additional lighting, contact one of our authorized vendors.
No fog machines are to be used at any time. No equipment can be flown in the auditorium.

Catering, Outside Staffing and Security:
Clients must select one of our full-service caterers. You will find the full list with contact information on our Authorized Vendors pages.
Security is contracted for events. The number of officers is at the discretion of Soldiers & Sailors. Clients are responsible for the associated fees. Clients may bring additional personal security, however Soldiers & Sailors’ security must still be in place.
Soldiers & Sailors must receive contact information for all privately employed vendorsassociated with the event prior to occupation of premises.
Soldier & Sailors does not provide event staff such a ticket takers, attendants, or ushers. Clients are responsible for providing these individuals if needed and must provide contact information for any staffing agencies involved prior to occupation.
Handicap Accessibility:The handicap drop off entrance is on the left side of the building on University Place.Guests may gain access to this entrance through the street level employee parking lot.
Handicap bathrooms are located on the third floor and are accessible via the elevators. If your event is limited to the first floor, only handicap guests are permitted to use the third floor restrooms.
Seating for handicapped individuals is limited to the auditorium’s first floor, not itsbalcony.
Event Flyers & T icket Sales:Clients are encouraged to provide information regarding the event for display in ourlobby. Providing as much information to our staff as possible ensures that we areequipped with the tools needed to answer any questions regarding the event that maybe asked.
We do not have a box office, however ticket tables can be put up for clients the day ofthe event.
Soldiers & Sailors does not have an exclusive ticket provider. Please use your preferred outlet.
Clients may not connect to the hall’s phone line to use a credit card machine, however clients have had success with wireless credit card machines and tablet card readers with usage of their own hotspot.
Parking:Street parking can be reserved by purchasing parking variances through the Pittsburgh Parking Authority. Requests should be made to the Parking Authority at least one week prior to the event. Signs for the spaces must be purchased through the Pittsburgh Police and placed on the meters 24 hours prior to the variance date.
Along with street parking, guests may use the 873 car public parking garage ownedby the University of Pittsburgh, located beneath our lawn. The rate is a flat fee after 4:00p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends, however this rate is subject tochange. Pricing & Payment Scheduling:The space included in the rental fee is the auditorium and the East and West dressing rooms upon request. Usage of additional spaces, such as the Hall of Valor and Gettysburg Room, is not included in this fee, unless specifically requested prior to contract issuing.
There is a $1000 security deposit required which is refundable upon premises inspection.
Selling tables are a flat fee of $100 each and should be paid for prior to the event date.
To confirm your reservation, clients must sign and return their rental lease to Soldiers & Sailors along with the nonrefundable deposit equal to half of the rental fee within 10 days of their lease request. The balance is due 30 days prior to your event or the contract is void.
$500 per hour is charged for additional time, and the staff must be notified prior tothe event.
