LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER … For those who are ill, and those in need of our prayers …

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF BECOMING A PRIEST? Visit: www.lavocations.org

Dear Parishioners, Happy Feast of Christ the King! In coming to the end of a liturgical year, the members of the Church

embrace the moment to acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ. That He is the master who teaches us the way to the Father, and that His Kingdom is not of domineering over others, but of long service that honors the heart of our brothers and sisters. Your priests wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving! We will have Mass

on Thanksgiving Day at 9 am. There is no better way to give thanks to the Lord than by celebrating the Eucharist together! Stay healthy!! Watch the calories!! Devotedly yours in Christ, Fr. Gabe

Reflection on Today’s Readings:

FOCUS: Jesus Christ the King. Even though the inscription over the head of Jesus on the cross proclaimed that He was the King of the Jews, it is doubtful that the soldiers there actually had the faith to recognize the truth of this sign. Today, we, the people of God, the Church, do recognize it. We celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.

LITURGY OF THE WORD: In the first reading we hear that the elders anointed David king of Israel. In Colossians we hear, [God] rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son. In Luke’s Gospel today, the good thief asks: Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.

Masses: Sat: 5:30 pm.

Sun: 7:30 am. Sun: 9:00 am. Sun: 10:30 am. Sun: 12:00 NN. Sun: 7:30 pm.

Celebrants: Msgr. Vadakin Msgr. Cox Msgr. Gonzales Msgr. Vadakin Msgr. Cox Msgr. Gonzales

Ministry gathers us and makes us a faith family...

We encourage all to read and reflect on the Biblical passages that will be proclaimed at all Masses next Sunday:

Living Faith for Kids:

“If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself.” - Luke 23:37 The soldiers and others who were mocking Jesus thought they knew how a king would

behave. But Jesus was a King who would save others instead of Himself. When we look at Jesus on the cross, we see the kind of King He is. As His faithful followers, we are asked to think about what is best for others instead of just trying to “save ourselves.” “Jesus, you are my King, the only power in heaven and earth that I will follow.”

Today’s Readings: 2 Samuel 5:1-3 ♦ Psalm 122:1-5

Colossians 1:12-20 ♦ Luke 23:35-43

Celebrants for this week (11/23-24-13) Msgr. Gonzales: 5:30 pm and Confessions; Msgr. Vadakin: 7:30 am; Fr. Tom: 9 am;

Msgr. Cox: 10:30 am & 12 NN; Msgr. Gonzales: 7:30 pm.

Ministry Equips us to deepen our love for God and share our faith…

Avoid breastfeeding in bed, say experts - Experts recommend to avoid breastfeeding in bed when the mother has

not had enough sleep, or in any situation where there are high probabilities they may fall asleep while breastfeeding. The mother should never take prescription medications (unless under the care of a physician), drugs, or alcohol that might make her drowsy or impair her judgment when breastfeeding, and she should always put the baby back in his or her own crib or basinet before she falls asleep. The baby should always sleep on his or her back for naps and at night. To learn more about SIDS/Safe Infant Sleep Practices, please visit http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/mch/sids/sids.htm. For particular help call the Office of Assistance Ministry at (213) 637-7650.

St. Anastasia Catholic School Parish Ball and Silent Auction Donations!

We are currently preparing for our annual Parish Ball and Silent Auction to be held on March 1, 2014 at the Westin Hotel, LAX in Los Angeles. We are asking our Parish members, neighboring businesses and families to support our event by donating an item or service to the Silent Auction or becoming an Event Sponsor. If you would like to donate to our fundraising event or know someone who would like to support our event, please contact Jackie Aguilera at [email protected] or 310-722.9549. This is a great way for local businesses, neighbors and friends to market their services to our Parish families while contributing to St. Anastasia Catholic School. All contributions are greatly appreciated and no contribution is too small.

The Year of Faith comes to an end… Last year, Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed October 11, 2012, through November 24, 2013, a Year of Faith

calling all believers to a deeper faith in God and strengthened commitment to Christ and His Church. Faith is a gift, it is the foundation of who we are as God’s people. Throughout this past year, we were reminded of our call to become “living signs of the presence of the Risen Lord in the world.” This challenge remains as we enter a new liturgical year. We share the light of Christ when we love and serve our neighbors.

The Chronic Pain Group meets the first Wednesday of each month from 7 to 8:30 pm in the Parish Hall (Basement). For info or questions, please call Patrick Doherty @ 310.650.0274 or Patty Wiacek @ 310.713.5298.

Ministry in Community …

Fact of Life Creation of Human Embryos With Three

Parents Facing Massive Opposition People from all sides are voicing their alarm about the ethics and safety of a new technique where a donor egg's nucleus is removed and replaced with the nucleus of a woman with mitochondrial disease. That genetically engineered egg is then fertilized with sperm, creating an embryo that has genetic material from three persons, the mitochondrial DNA from the donor, and nuclear DNA contributed by the parents. The technique under consideration isn't like gene therapy...What is at stake here is much broader: the modification of the germline, the inheritable genetic code that connects humanity from one generation to the next. Members of the Council of Europe recently declared that such technologies are "incompatible with human dignity." And, as Bill McKibben puts it in his book Enough: Staying Human in an Engineered Age, "The stakes in this argument are absurdly high, nothing less than the meaning of being human." From article by Rebecca Taylor. LifeNews.com 10/27/13

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) Collection, takes place TODAY, Sunday, November 24th.

The Collection for the CCHD provides funding for groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States. In the last five years, over 36% of CCHD’s grants have gone to im-proving education, supporting housing in low-income neighborhoods. Help us to continue to defend human dignity and take poverty off the map. Defend human dignity. Take poverty off the map. Please give generously to the CCHD Collection. Envelopes are in the pews.
