Background Pabna is an ancient town in Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. The urban population in Pabna Town is also growing due to rural-urban
migration. The huge number of population generates a huge waste in urban area. So Pabna Pourashava faces a huge waste management problem. The present study reveals that in spite of huge allocation in drainage and
sanitation purpose the city fail to ensure a sound environment due to lack of proper waste management.
Consequently, waste is indiscriminate by dumped on roads and into open space thus leading to serious health risk and degradation of living environment for about a million of city dwellers.
Objectives
Find out total existing condition of Solid waste management in pabna paourashava.
Find out the problems of solid waste management at ward no 10 & 11 in Pabna pourashava.
Provide some recommendation to get ride of this these problems.
Study Area The Pabna Paurashava is between
23053" N and 24005" N Latitude and 89009" E and 890 25" E Longitudes.
It is bounded by Shalgaria and Laskorpur beyond the river Ichamoti on the North, Dakshin Ramchandrapur on the South, Arifpur-Mahendrapur-Madarbaria on the East and Hemayetpur and Pailanpur on the West part of the Paurashava.
The Ichamoti River is passing through the middle of the Paurashava. There are 23 Mauzas included in the Pabna Paurashava as per gazette (SRO No. 222) published in 1989.

Analysis & Findings
Pabna Municipality was established in 1876. There was a small number of populations living in Pabna
municipality. Now there are 15 wards in Pabna Municipality and its population is
about 127319 (Pabna Municipality, 2016). The authority provides many essential services to the city dwellers.

Recommendation
Develop landfill site Established Recycling & Recovery
process Planting flowers plants around the
dustbin. Provide dustbin cover to protect rain
water.
Effective training program for cleaners, sweepers and waste collectors should be arranged by the pourashava.
Established mass awareness
Provide drainage cover to prevent dumping waste in it.
Conclusion
Solid waste management problem is increasing day by day. Pabna pourashava has poor management system of solid waste. To continue this situation pabna become a hazardous place . There is poor management of solid waste in ward 10 & 11 in Pabna pourashava. Waste to energy solves the problem of solid waste disposal while recovering the
energy from the waste materials with the significant benefits of environmental quality, increasingly accepted as a clean source of energy.
Understanding the waste generated, the availability of resources, and the environmental conditions of a particular society are important to developing an appropriate waste-management system.
