4.6.4 Power Fail Protection

The RECADATA I6 Series SSD is specially designed with industrial-grade Tantalum

Capacitors Array and the power-off detection circuit based, to ensure that all data will

be written back to the NAND from DDR in case of any sudden power-off in extreme

environments.

4.7 Endurance

4.7.1 TBW (Total Bytes Written)

The RECADATA I6 Series MLC SSD is provided with 2 years warranty for common

application except abuse data input. The lifetime also depends on the TBW based

on SSD capacity.

TBW=𝐒𝐒𝐃 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲∗𝟎.𝟗𝟐∗𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞∗Endurance improvement ratio

1000∗Risk ratio

Note:

(1) The Flash write cycles is referred as the flash datasheet and based on recycling

mechanism or data protection mechanism;

(2) The Endurance improvement ratio is referred as the write cycles improvement

through ECC algorithm;

(3) The Risk ratio is referred as the risk ratio the SSD manufacturer can accept

within lifespan. Normally it is 2 in SSD industry standards;

α: SSD total capacity

β: Flash average writing times, RECADATA MLC NAND FLASH Write times is 5000.

The details can be referred to in flash datasheet.

γ: Data amplification ratio, the less it is, the more the lifespan of SSD is. Rana-M’s

ratio is 0.3.

δ:The data input volume every day.

4.7.3 Wear-leveling

RECADATA’s all SSD products support both dynamic and static wear-leveling.

These two algorithms guarantee all type of flash memory at same level of

erase cycles to improve lifetime limitation of NAND based storage.

4.8 Secure Erase

Generally, The RECADATA I6 Series Industrial Grade 2.5 SATA III MLC SSD provides

two types of destruction methods: Fast Secure Erase (by software) and Physical

Destruction (by hardware) Different users prefer different modes according to the

applications requirements.

1. Fast Secure Erase

1) ATA Command Trigger:

The Secure Erase function can also be trigger by Host ATA Command directly.

2) Jumper (2Pin short) Trigger:

a) Connect the RECADATA SSD with power supply, the external LED light is “OFF”;

b) Press down the destruction button, the external LED light turns “ON”, the

self-destruction function is triggered if the pressing LED time is longer than 3

seconds ,But it will resume status “a)” if the pressing LED time is less than 3

seconds.

Page 14: Solidata SATA SSD CRATOR-S › wp-content › uploads › 2016 › 06 › RE… · S2 SATA II S3 SATA III P0 PATA U2 USB 2.0 U3 USB 3.0 P2 PCI-e 2.0 P3 PCI-e 3.0 D0 SD 3 18 1.8inch

I6 Series

Datasheet

14

c) When the self-destruction starts, The external LED light turns “twinkling” until

the destruction process is completed, and it will execute destruction command

continuously until the user data is totally destroyed if any power fail during the

destruction period and the SSD is powered up again;

d) Once the Fast Secure Erase process is totally completed, The External LED

light turns “OFF”

Note:

a) Power (supply) is the only key to trigger secure erase process; SATA Signal is

not related in this Jumper trigger mode.

b) Destroy the data stored on the Flash memory and all data in the SSD is erased,

however the SSD can be used again after initialization.

3) Physical Destruction

A momentary higher voltage is produced by the onboard circuit to destroy the

flash storage medium .The SSD can’t be used again if the hardware is destroyed;

Note:

1:The higher voltage is required +28V while the Power Consumption is no less

than 200W.

2:The SSD will become burned hot with smoke during the physical destruction

period, please don’t touch it.

D3h Save Attribute Values D9h Disable SMART Operations

D4h Execute OFF-LINE Immediate DAh Return Status

If the reserved size is below the threshold, the status can be read from the Cylinder

Register using the Return Status command (DAh).

The following 512bytes make up the SMART data structure. Users can obtain the

data using the “Read Data” command (D0h).

1. F=content (byte) is fixed and does not change.

2. V=content (byte) is variable and may change depending on the state of

the device or the commands executed by the device.

3. X=contents (byte) is vendor specific ad may be fixed or variable.

4. R=content (byte) is reserved and shall be zero.
