The fascial matrixThe fascial matrix comprises all of the soft, fibrous, connective tissue which interweaves and surrounds all other tissue systems in the body (such as the muscular system, skeletal system, vessels, nerve fibers, etc.). It is the major linkage system of the body.

Page 5: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.
Page 6: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The fascial matrix

Mechanically, the fascial matrix provides dynamic support to the body’s tissue systems as it organizes and facilitates movement while distributing mechanical stress.

As a whole, this matrix consists of both liquid and solid crystal lattices which are able to transmit mechanical data (such as tension from a muscle contracting) as well as electromagnetic data (such as that housed by biophotons).

The reception, generation, and transmission of biophotonic light serves as a communication medium for informing the body’s cells and providing instructions to one’s DNA.

Properties of the fascial matrix

Semiconduction: Our connective tissues are capable of conducting and processing vibrational information detected in the environment or delivered through conscious intention.

Piezoelectricity: Waves of mechanical vibration moving through the fascial matrix produce electromagnetic fields and vice versa – electromagnetic waves moving through the matrix produce mechanical vibrations (DNA communication can take place through these electromagnetic fields).

Crystallinity: Much of the connective tissue matrix consists of molecules which are orderly arranged in crystal-like lattices.

Hydration: Connective tissue is very hydrated and the matrix “shapes” the arrangement of the housed water molecules. As Dr. Masaru Emoto’s research has shown, all water molecules respond by rearrangement to the vibrational environment they are exposed to. Therefore, you can alter the crystal-like arrangement of your connective tissues and the water molecules residing within through conscious intention or the experiencing of love and happiness.

The fourth phase of waterThe liquid-crystalline (or structured) state of water has been termed the fourth phase of water.

This phase readily operates as a biological battery, fueled by radiant electromagnetic radiation (mostly infrared from the sun).

The interaction between structured water and electromagnetic radiation serves as another communication medium in the body.

Page 11: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Thoughts, emotions, and beliefs

Because thoughts and emotions exists as vibratory entities, they travel just like other forms of electromagnetic radiation.

Due to the properties of the fascial matrix, mental and emotional byproducts are able to be imprinted within our connective tissue via the recording processes of microtubules.

This is how thoughts, emotions, and beliefs can sculpt the configuration of connective tissue throughout the body.

This is also how habitual postural and movement patterns can shape tissue architecture.

Yogic asanas

Asana practice serves as an excellent modality for revealing how consciously- and subconsciously-held beliefs as well as experienced thoughts and emotions can transcribe themselves within our connective tissue.

Through the assumption of various asanas, you can experience an array of sensations that can impart a greater awareness of doubts, self-imposed limitations, and negative beliefs that manifest as improper tension throughout the body.

By strongly reconnecting with the physical body, undesired attitudes, beliefs, and behavioral tendencies can be removed or adjusted.

Page 14: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Kinesthesia/proprioception

Such reconnection with the body can improve one’s kinesthetic or proprioceptive sense, which consists of the map of where one’s body parts are in space and the sensory information associated with movement.

By reestablishing kinesthesia, you can regain awareness of tension held throughout the body so that you may voluntarily release that tension.

Such tension may originate from the experiencing or accumulation of any form of trauma (physical injury, emotional distress, psychological dissonance, even chemical stress from toxin exposure).

Page 15: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Neuromyofascial dysfunction cycle (bad news)

Page 16: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Somatics

The reestablishment of kinesthesia is step 1 of the somatic approach to restoring equilibrium in the body.

Step 2 is the correction of dysfunctional motor programs held in the nervous system.

A motor program is a procedural memory for how to complete a movement task.

Page 17: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Dysfunctional motor programs

Page 18: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Somatics

Collectively, the processes diagrammed above constitute the development of what is termed “sensory-motor amnesia” or SMA.

The correction of SMA is what step 2 of the somatic approach accomplishes.

This correction is achieved through a resetting of the “alpha-gamma feedback loop.”

Page 19: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Alpha-gamma feedback loopWithin the spinal cord, there are two types of nerve cells – alpha motoneurons and gamma motoneurons.

Page 20: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Alpha-gamma feedback loop

The gamma motoneurons are responsible for contracting the intrafusal muscle fibers (or muscle spindle fibers).

The alpha motoneurons are responsible for contracting the extrafusal muscle fibers.

Page 21: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Alpha-gamma feedback loop

Page 22: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Alpha-gamma feedback loop

When a gamma-motoneuron tells the intrafusal fibers to contract, sensory information is sent to the alpha-motoneuron, which in turn tells the extrafusal fibers to contract in order to try and equalize the length of both fiber groups.

When an equilibrium is reached, the feedback loop will be deactivated and that particular muscle's length and tone will be “set.”

Due to this feedback loop's responsibility for maintaining a muscle's length and tone, whenever a postural or movement habit is learned, an assumed appropriate length and tone of the associated musculature is established. However, if a postural or movement habit is improper, dysfunction will be implanted into the alpha-gamma loop, and the associated musculature will remain inappropriately tense.

Page 23: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Alpha-gamma feedback loop

Then, the unchanging stimuli (chronic inappropriate tension) will grow to be ignored by the brain, and the individual's kinesthetic sense will diminish.

Part 2 of the somatic approach resets the alpha-gamma feedback loop by providing novel sensory input to the brain during a particular exercise (or sequence of asanas) so that the gamma motoneurons will restart the attempt to establish an appropriate length and tone for a particular muscle.

Once an equilibrium is reached between the intrafusal and extrafusal muscle fibers, the feedback loop will again be deactivated, and a new appropriate length and tone for the particular muscle will be set.

Page 24: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Somatic Yoga

As the assumption of different asanas employs different motor programs and provides different sensory input, the pattern in which a practitioner links a series of asanas together can form a “script” which can be used to correct dysfunction in the neuromyofascial system.

This process of appropriately linking a series of asanas together is termed vinyasa krama. By focusing your awareness within the physical body while a series of motor programs are being carried out, kinesthesia can be improved, and the new sensory input can be used to fix improper postural and movement habits.

Furthermore, this “dance” or aggregate pattern of movement also allows for you to examine your true nature as your attitudes, beliefs, and thought patterns reveal themselves through the physical body.

Page 25: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The reticular formation

The reticular formation's primary responsibility is to screen incoming sensory data and determine what is presently “relevant.”

While practicing a sequence of asanas, you may reach a state in which a muting of distractions from the primitive regions of the brain takes place, which increases receptivity to extrasensory input.

This increase in receptivity largely stems from the reticular formation relaxing its filtering of incoming stimuli, allowing for personal transformative work to be accomplished much more easily.

Epigenetics

Definition: “the study of heritable changes in gene function that do not involve changes in DNA sequence.”

Cellular function or behavior is not dictated solely by one’s genetic makeup.

The first layer of DNA merely serves as a blueprint for the construction of protein.

It is the environment which regulates genetic expression and remodels the blueprint.

Page 28: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Epigenetics

The genetic blueprint housed within the first layer of DNA is not set in stone.

It is manipulated and regulated by the environment.

For example, one’s nutrition plan, experienced emotions, thought patterns, electromagnetic pollution, and any source of stress (psychological, physiological, mechanical, or metaphysical) can influence genetic expression.

Cellular membrane receptors

Page 31: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Cellular membrane receptors

These protein receptors operate like antennas in that they can pick up and respond to electromagnetic fields.

The vibrational environment within the field can cause the receptor protein to change shape, which instructs an effector protein to carry out a certain task within the cell.

Previously, these receptors were thought to only respond to chemical signals (like a hormone), which is one reason why the biochemical model is so limited.

Page 32: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Receptor-effector complexes

Receptor-effector complexes are the machines which sense environmental stimuli and respond to that stimuli by eliciting some action within the cell.

The effector proteins provide signals to regulatory proteins which modulate genetic expression. Genes do not control their own activity.

Genes might be viewed as tools which the body uses to adapt to an ever-changing environment.

The cellular membrane

Page 34: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The cellular membrane

Because the phospholipid bilayer maintains its pattern of molecular organization, it can be classified as a liquid crystal, and is able to function like a computer chip.

This liquid crystal provides one means by which information may be programmed into the cell.

Dr. Bruce Lipton has shown that a hierarchy exists in the response to information received by the cell. Input received from the mind acting through the nervous system can override a response evoked by local stimuli.

Page 35: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

In summary

Electromagnetic radiation is capable of modulating protein synthesis and genetic expression; directing cell division and differentiation; altering protein function; and manipulating hormone secretion and neural functionality.

The dimensional octave

The manifested universe is organized into octaves via the diffraction of pure white light.

The diffraction of white light into the seven rainbow colors establishes seven levels of vibratory existence, with each level being defined by a different pattern of frequency, amplitude, and velocity.

Each dimension within our octave is founded upon one of the seven rainbow colors.

Page 37: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The dimensional octave

Page 38: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The dimensional octave

Each of the seven rainbow colors provides the base vibrational spectrum for its corresponding dimension or “density.”

This base spectrum distinguishes each dimension’s density or level of physicality. For instance, the fourth dimension’s matter is less dense or “physical” than matter in the third dimension.

However, each dimension’s base spectrum is tinged with the other rainbow colors so that each dimension houses elements of the other dimensions.

Page 39: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The chakra system and auric fieldThe diffraction of white light into the seven rainbow colors (and seven dimensions) gives rise to the seven layers of the aura and the seven spinal chakras.

Page 40: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The chakra system and auric field

The spinal chakras chiefly serve as transducers of energy and information and the layers of the auric field essentially embody the levels of consciousness expressed within each of the seven dimensions (again, the eighth dimension serves as a transition point into the next octave, therefore there is no real auric layer associated with that point).

Page 41: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Spinal chakras

Page 42: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The chakra system and auric field

Each of the seven layers of the auric field may be said to exist as enfolded components of your being or mind/body/spirit complex but they typically reside within a state of potentiation or incomplete activation (except for the third, yellow-ray body which is the physical vehicle that your consciousness has activated and is currently focused within).

Each of the seven spinal chakras is comprised of elements associated with each of the seven dimensions (or seven aura layers). However, as a whole, each primary chakra remains in somewhat of a state of “hibernation” until at least partially activated and at least partially balanced with the remaining spinal chakras as you journey through the octave.

Page 43: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The chakra system and auric field

Additionally, each spinal chakra may rotate at any one angular velocity within the specified range of angular velocities available to each primary chakra (determined by its governing dimension). The particular angular velocity at which a spinal chakra is rotating may be likened to its degree of activation and/or its degree of balance among the other spinal chakras.

Page 44: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The auric layers

Page 45: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The twelve layers of DNA

Closely linked with the layers of the auric field are the twelve layers of DNA. Collectively, our DNA is multi-dimensional as is our aura.

Only the first layer (the acid polymer with the double-helix architecture) is visible within the third dimension.

Each of the twelve layers possesses a distinct nature or function associated with it but collectively our DNA layers operate as one unit.

Page 46: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The twelve layers of DNA

Looking at the twelve layers as one unit, there are five primary imprints imbued within our DNA and they are:

1. Ancestral heredity = predispositional patterns carried along through one’s lineage.

2. Karmic remnants = experiential patterns carried over from previous incarnations.

Page 47: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The twelve layers of DNA

3. Astrological stamping = the collection of electromagnetic emanations from various celestial bodies which are transmitted through the earth’s magnetic grid and then patterned into your DNA at birth.

4. Akashic Record = your personal database of all incarnations upon the earth including all experiences had, knowledge gained, and creations manifested.

5. Divine spark = the “cord” linking this aspect of your consciousness with your Higher Self and your mind/body/spirit complex.

Page 48: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The first DNA layer

The double-helixed foundational layer of our DNA primarily serves as the liaison between the higher layers, the physical body, and one’s conscious mind. This layer is constantly listening to the instructions provided to it by the environment, the higher layers, and the conscious mind. These instructions are then relayed to the protein-encoded segments of the polymer, modulating genetic expression.

Page 49: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The twelve layers of DNA

Page 50: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The ninth DNA layer

Most relevant to this lecture is DNA layer nine, the “healing layer.”

This layer might be seen as the DNA component which possesses a higher awareness and understanding of the patterns which may be adopted by the physical body in order for a state of health to be expressed.

The knowledge of this layer may be accessed by or transmitted to the physical body through the liaison services of the first DNA layer.

Page 51: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The etheric body and DNA layer nine

With this in mind, let’s go back to the aura layer termed the indigo-ray body or the “etheric body.”

This etheric body is the “form-maker” or sculptor which possesses the ability to shape or create a particular pattern that may be adopted by the physical body in order for a state of health to be expressed within the physical body.

Page 52: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

The etheric body and DNA layer nine

Page 53: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Example

Using a case of spontaneous remission, here the individual’s conscious mind willfully sends an intention for healing of the physical body to take place which is then picked up by the ninth layer of their DNA (the healing layer) and sent to the sixth-dimensional etheric body.

The etheric body then accepts this command given by the conscious mind and sculpts the particular pattern that will allow for the requested state of health to be expressed within the physical body.

This pattern, or blueprint, is then transmitted through DNA layer nine and adopted as the configuration for the physical body, and the now healed physical body manifests with the pattern of disease or affliction removed.

Page 54: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Example

Page 55: Somatic Yoga and the self-healing process.

Stipulation

However, whether or not this healing process is completed and the state of health manifests for the individual is up to the individual and their Higher Self.

Therefore, even though this healing mechanism is in place for everyone, the complete healing or rejuvenation may not take place if there exists any restriction or blockage that has been erected by the individual or their Higher Self.

Accordingly, it should be known that the “healer” only serves as the facilitator or the catalyst for such healing to take place, otherwise the individual’s free will would be infringed upon.
