About UsThe Sombrero brand has roots dating back to the 1960’s with the original family location in the college area of San Diego, CA. This is where many of Sombrero recipes were created, as well as where the Founder, Javier Sr, learned the family Mexican Food business. In 1984 Javier reintroduced Sombrero Mexican Food to San Diego as the quick service operation that it is today. Since the beginning there has always been a strict focus on maintaining high standards by using only the freshest quality ingredients, utilizing homemade “casera-style” cooking techniques, and always maintaining clean, well-kept restaurants.

Sombrero has seen great success in San Diego, the epicenter for quick service Mexican Food. Sombrero continues to stand above its competitors by providing a consistent quality experience to guests in each location, use of quality products, and ongoing product innovation. Sombrero proudly serves guests the best ingredients available, featuring fresh Choice Angus Carne Asada, top quality cheese, a completely trans-fat & lard free menu as well as many healthy options.

Sombrero locations typically open early for breakfast and close late, with many locations oering 24 hour drive-thru service. Each location is furnished with a self serve beverage area which includes a variety of Aguas Fresca, as well as a Fresh Salsa Bar, featuring our famous homemade Salsas and Hot Carrots, all made from scratch!

Today, Sombrero has nearly 20 Southern California locations, and continues to grow!
