Church San Francisco The Puerta de Cordoba

leads to the Church of San Francisco, which belonged to a Franciscan convent.The temple began in 1694 and the model of a Baroque convent church with a Latin cross and oval cupola over the crossing.The wall is decorated with frescoes.The temple boasts a beautiful Baroque altarpiece of about 1730, ancoeval image of Jesus of Nazareth, patron of Baena.

The church has a nave with a transept, covered with a barrel vault with transverse and lunettes. All the walls are decorated with paintings made up of small pebbles, giving the whole look impressive. Is S. XVII. The reredos is of carved wood and polychrome 1740.En this church is the venerable image of the city's patron, Our Lord Jesus of Nazareth, whose head is an Italian size S. XVIII.

Church San Bartolomé Due to its location outside

the Almedina, might be an early mosque Christianized. Its existence is documented from 1448, although the Gothic was then at the end of S. Fifteenth and early S. XVI. Factory is simple but has three naves without a transept, covered with ribbed vaults and coffered ceiling.

In the presbytery is the altarpiece of modern work. Has two pulpits, both of the late S. XVII, but the most important is the Gospel side, which had the richness of his sounding board size. Regarding the door, the shield include the Bishop of Cordoba, which is carved in wood leaves cancel and bronze knockers S. XVIII.

Church Espíritu Santo Built in the late S. XVIII, is a

striking façade set in stone doorway and belfry. It has a single nave covered with a barrel vault with arches. It must be stressed altarpiece dating from the first half of S. XVIII, composed of two bodies and three blocks separated by fluted columns.

•1) How many time did you arrive in Baena?-I arrived in Baena nine years ago.•2) Why did you choose to come to this parish church?-In fact I didn’t choose to come to this parish church, I was posted here.•3) Who did you know in Baena?-I’m from a city that is close to Baena and I knew some people who were related to the Catolic Church.•4) Did you keep a close relationship with them?-Yes, I kept a good relationship with some of them, we usually met, I kept a telephone touch with them, etc.•5) Did the relathionship with this friends mean a facility to achieve the job as a parish priest?-Maybe, because I kept a really good relationship with Mr. Virgilio, who was the parish priest in this community.

•6) How many different kinds of catechesis do you give weekly?-There are four different types of catechesis in our parish church: One like preparation to the communion, another one like preparation to the confirmation , another one subsequent to the confirmation and a last one only for marriages.•7) What type of activities do you propose in order to attract young people?-All kind of trips, travels, meetings, parties,etc•8) Why is your catechesis program directed to youngest people?-Because, In my opinion, they will be the future christian generations.•9) What changes have you realised in this parish church?-We have given it a youthful, fresh and active aspect. We took everything from a funnier point of view.•10) What sector of the Baena’s population is implied more actively in the center’s activities?-As we can verify clearly the youngest people collabore and participate more actively in our activities.

About workingAbout working In the second quarter we started work for

the subject of Proyecto Integrado in which we requested information about our local churches to do this we have formed a group of four people. This work has helped us to know each other better and learn some history about these buildings as outlined above.We hope that you liked and enjoyed our presentation.
