The lesson starts off with a pre-learning quiz for you to complete and then a video to watch that teaches you about who Siddharta Gautama. He is the first individual to have achieved enlightenment through the practice of meditation. He became known as Buddha, which means ‘the enlightened one’. We will learn about his life and his journey to enlightenment. You will need a piece of paper, a pen and your brain.

Compare the theme parks by answering the following questions:1) Which park’s size is bigger?

2) What is their visitor capacity? (How many people can visit per day?)

3) What is the cost of a day visit to the park?

4) What transport links to the park are there? (Can you get there by train/bus etc?)

5) Are they situated rurally or urbanely? (Within a city or out in the countryside or where the population is low?)

6) How many rides do they have?

7) What is the most appropriate age group to attend the park?

How to record your comparison:

• You can write the information you find out into a table comparing one park to the other

or

• You can write a detailed comparison (using paragraphs) to compare the two parks including which park you think would be better to attend and why.

Project: Scream Machine

Pick one of the parks from yesterday’s comparison lesson. This could be the one you used or a different one.

Imagine you work for that theme park.

• Convince someone to attend the park.

• Think about persuasive language and how you would convince someone to attend.

• What are the best selling points of the park? What are the best rides? Who is your audience – young children, teenagers etc?

• Look at the two examples as to how you could set them out.
