Within Electronics manufacturing the occurrence of static can be a costly problem; damage to electronic devices may occur from manufacture to field servicing. The extent of the damage may be detected at a test stage prior to shipment, but if an ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) event occurs post-test then latent damage may result

in electronics failure during operation.

We guarantee that the garments we supply are manufactured in accordance with current ESD standards IEC 61340-5-1 and ANSI / ESD S20.20 and raw materials undergo thorough ESD and mechanical testing.

All materials are:

• Static dissipative fabrics with a carbon loaded yarn in a 5mm grid

• Crease Resistant Work Wear

• Resistivity point-point (Rp): 10(6) - 10(7) Ohm

• Decay time: < 2 second

ESD garments should be worn correctly and periodically tested to ensure the ESD properties have not been lost.

Testing – Point to point and sleeve to sleeve resistance tests should be periodically made.

Fastenings – All snaps on the front of a garment should be snapped to prevent exposure of static generating personal garments to static sensitive devices. ESD garments create a ‘Faraday Cage’ shield and unfastened garment panels can become an isolated charged conductor so do fasten when in static controlled areas. Personal garments should be rolled up shorter than the ESD garment cuffs and the cuff stud may be fastened to prevent personal garment exposure.

To maximize the life of an ESD garment, and in some cases our garments will retain their properties for more than 50 industrial washes if maintained correctly, we recommend the following cleaning guide lines. As the carbon suffused monofilament nylon used in our garments is sensitive to heat, alkali, acids, softeners and bleach:

• Wash in warm water, no more than 40°C (104°F) with liquid laundry detergent i.e. Liquid Tide, Liquid Lemon Dash, Liquid Cheer, Oxydol etc

• Do not use laundry detergents which contain added fabric softeners or bleach

• Do not bleach

• Do not use alkali, acid or fabric softeners

• Do not dry clean

• Hang dry or tumble dry on a normal cycle at a low heat maximum 50°C (120°F)

• Low temperature ironing maybe done if required
