Somos Maxwell January 17, 2021 Del Escritorio del Director I hope that you and your family are well. This past Friday, we received some great news as the registration process for vaccinating school staff against COVID-19 has begun! We are pleased to have this additional mitigation tool as we work toward a return to in-person instruction this year. Please note that we will implement instruction consistent with the decisions made by FCPS using the In-Person Learning Matrix. In December the administration hosted two separate Zoom family informational sessions that outlined elements of our various instructional plans. Please see this newsletter for links to the recordings. Please note that we will conduct a new informational session this week on January 19, 2021 in which we will discuss some educational resources and outline some additional next steps regarding our return plan. We hope that you will be able to join us. Imagine Learning has served as a district-wide instructional resource this year. As we move into this second semester, we want to encourage our students and families to take advantage of this resource. In this newsletter you will nd some family portals that will provide you with additional information about each component of Imagine learning. We will also be sponsoring an incentive that we will announce this week! Finally, Ms. Cheyenne Mills from Imagine Learning will be joining us during the Principal and Family Forum to provide an overview and answer questions. The grading period ended before the break. Please note that report cards will be mailed on Tuesday, January 19. In the mailing you will also nd a handout with a listing of important links related to preparing for our return to in-person instruction. Please look for this important mailing. As we potentially move through different stages of learning during this semester, we will need to be able to communicate key information to families. In this newsletter nd a link to the Campus Portal that will enable you to maintain your current contact information on le. Food services have resumed.     This Monday we will not have classes as we take time to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and hismessage of peace.

    ChromebooksWe have received a new shipment of Chromebooks from the district. Thisrecent arrival of devices has helped us to achieve a 1:1 status. If yourchild has not yet received his or her Chromebook for the year, pleasecontact David Mato at [email protected].

    COVID-19 ReportingA new emergency order from the state requires that beginning Monday,September 28, all families must report if their child tests positive forCOVID-19 within 24 hours of receiving the test results. The district isthen required to report numbers of positive cases and numbers ofquarantines to the state, regardless of whether we are learning virtually or back on campus.

    To make things easier for families, FCPS has established a COVID-19 reporting team to collect allinformation con�dentially and ensure accurate and transparent reporting. If your child tests positivefor COVID-19, all you have to do is dial 859-381-FCPS (3277), email your name and phone number [email protected], or �ll out the online form at www.fcps.net/covid19. The FCPSreporting team will then complete the required process. Please note that the online link is available inmultiple languages.

    WMAXThe award-winning WMAX show is back! Please look for new shows tobe released on Fridays through the the morning Seesaw announcement.The show is conducted in Spanish and features student submissions and other engaging content.Please be sure to also note the weekly Golden Cat Paw recipients as part of the program!   • Lunch Services During NTI-2DL

    Anyone 18 years of age and younger is now eligible to receive free mealsat any of the district's school feeding sites and the connected communitylocations. Regardless of where your children go to school or whetheryour family quali�es for free or reduced lunch, all families can get FREEmeals for children aged 18 and younger. Children do not need to bepresent.

    Meals are distributed at school and community pickup locations between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.on Mondays (two breakfasts and two lunches) and Wednesdays (three breakfasts and three lunches),with adjustments for holidays and inclement weather. Food bags are available at any site regardlessof student enrollment.

    C3 ProgramMaxwell will be participating in a new initiative called C3 (Caring,Connected, Community) that is designed to intentionally connectFayette County Public Schools’ staff and students to create a morecaring and culturally a�rming community. Each family received acopy of the program brochure during the Maxwell Pick-up Party.Please �nd below a link to the program brochure. '
