CONFIRMATION DAY ON PENTECOST SUNDAY
COME AND BE A WITNESS
By: Pastor Louie
This year’s confirmands are: Lexi and Keaton Duhn (children of Judd and Sonya Duhn), Taytum Sargent (daughter of Troy and Tara Sargent), Zoe
McDevitt(daughter of Jeremey and Kyle McDevitt), Ashleigh Petersen (daughter
of Clint and Jaime Petersen), Cade Shirk (son of Cory and Ana Shirk), Halle Ditch (daughter of Todd & Danielle Ditch), Ashtyn Hannover (foster child of
Tom & Cindy Magee) Kinsey, Kyle and Kourtney Kogel (children of Shayne and
Michelle Kogel), Maddy Anderson(daughter of Cary & Kari Anderson), Tattum Fries (son of Travis and Deena Fries), Madilyn Hall (daughter of Troy and Missy
Hall), Lex and Claire Kassel (children of Craig & Debbie Kassel), Elias Meyer
(son of Jennifer Meyer) and Savannah Faulkner(daughter of Josh Leth and
Donna & Mark Wildeman).
I would like to invite all of you, First United Methodist Church family, to
come and be witnesses to the confirmation day of these young people on June 4,2017. That day will also be Pentecost Sunday . Let’s pray for them
and their families that they will all be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
They attended confirmation classes faithfully at the parsonage, and participated in worship as well as ministries of our church. I am really proud of them for
their achievements and hard work. Kudos to their parents who supported them
all throughout their confirmation journey! God is glorified and honored! I hope and pray that they will continue to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. May all of us continue to pray for
Jesus to breathe His Holy Spirit upon them, that all of them will have victorious
Christian lives. May they always remember their covenant with God that
church will be a priority to them even after confirmation! These young people
were “CREATED TO WORSHIP” Jesus Christ.
They will be my last confirmation class before Beng and I will be moving
to Williamsburg, Iowa. God is really good! I bring back all the glory and
praises to Him! As you come on June 4th, you will be witnesses as these confirmands will make a vow before the Lord to love and serve Him through His
church. Come, witness the Holy Spirit’s work in our church on that day. May
the Good Lord continue to bless all of us!

THE REPLACEMENT
When Moses grew old and when Death was at his door, he said these words to Joshua:
“Then Moses summoned Joshua. He said to him with all Israel watching, “Be strong.
Take courage. You will enter the land with this people, this land that God promised their
ancestors that he’d give them. You will make them the proud possessors of it. God is
striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave
you. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t worry.”
(Deuteronomy 31: 7-8 The Message Bible”
He gave the care of Israel and the continuance of their journey to Joshua, son of Nun.
God gave Joshua the victory over Jericho and Israel finally occupied the PROMISED
LAND. This was such a poignant event in the history of Israel as a
nation.
God has turned the seasons. The time has come for me and Louie to continue His work
in Williamsburg, as Joshuas. HE plants the seeds, sends someone to water them and
sometimes appoints somebody else to take care of the shoots as they grow until harvest.
God has planted His Word richly in each and everyone’s heart. It’s now time to let it grow
in your hearts. May His Word be the life in every fiber of your being. Do not stifle it! Just
obey! God has appointed a leader over all of you to challenge each and every one of you
to grow and step up in ministry. There is so much room in Emmetsburg First United
Methodist Church to impart your gifts.
Just as Moses commissioned and told Joshua, I am telling all of you the same. Be strong.
Take courage. Do not be intimidated. Do not worry. God, who started the good work in
you, will be faithful to complete it! He will give you a leader who can challenge you to
grow and bear fruit!
Joshua must have felt very nervous after seeing so many struggles in the wilderness for
40 years but Moses spoke those words to calm his spirit!
So I tell you right now: DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE NEW PASTOR! KEEP
PRAYING AND BELIEVING!
In the end: “Now Joshua the son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, for Moses
had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel listened to him and did what the Lord
had told Moses.” (Deuteronomy 34:9)
I am praying for a Spirit-filled Pastor who will lead you into a deeper relationship with our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! God bless all of you! WE love each and every one of you!
