Financial Reports – Ashby Kindler

• Ashby discussed Diocesan Giving done this past month. • Ashby also asked Randy to identify a seminarian for a contribution • Discussed restricted giving and to keep an eye on the amount related to flowers and wreaths for Christmas • Tom moved to accept the financial reports, seconded by Joe and APPROVED • Discussed putting the budget on the agenda for Dec. The budget committee, (Bob Lamb, Tom Parker, Tom

Torrance and Ashby), recently met. Lou will send out the draft budget electronically to members of the vestry. The Annual Meeting will to be held in January where the budget will be presented to the congregation.

Old Business

• Celebration of New Ministry – Randy has coordinated a date with Cass Bailey for Sat. Dec 21, tentative time, 11:00 am

• Name tags- Joann Brust said name tags are in and the vestry agreed the church will fund it. New Business

• Ingathering/Food collection: Randy said Babs asked to discuss a food collection for In-gathering Sunday to put on the altar. Randy said he would contact organizations for where to take the food donations (much of which would be perishable) & check with what they had done in Scottsville. Ron suggested a homeless shelter and Joe will check with the senior center as a donation site.

• Joe initiated a discussion about Bab’s salary.” Ashby said her pay is commensurate with other local organists. Randy suggested maybe a cost of living increase. Randy will check into the average pay of organists & we will discuss at Dec vestry. The budget would need to be amended.

• Bab’s sick leave: Randy said Babs will have to miss ~ 3 weeks for another surgery. Surgery date TBD. • Stock Donation Process: Randy explained the diocese has had some difficulty working together as a team

and a stock donation “snafu” occurred with a parishioner here, since resolved. Randy distributed an information sheet titled “Making a Stock Gift with the Diocese of VA” and discussion ensued. Joe suggested the form be put on St Luke’s website. Ashby will work on that.

• Trustees of the Funds (elected at Diocesan level) don’t have a direct relationship with the diocesan staff. Discussion about fund’s risks and how the trustees make decisions.

• Joe discussed a possible proposed church endowment protocol per Alan Culbertson, a financial advisor. Advantages to moving our funds are: higher yields & less expensive than CACF. Discussion about who would be responsible for monitoring the fund regularly. The vestry agreed that moving the funds is a good idea, but will defer until Joe has consulted the trustees of St Luke’s (Joe, Bob Bill & Don Fickes) to build consensus. Further discussion about how our trustees are selected, Randy will check the canons.

• Veteran’s Ministry, Randy talked about his experience at Yogaville yesterday with veterans (including drumming circles). Randy discussed more outreach as there are over 860,000 veterans in VA.

Rector Report –

• Randy discussed a nice, insightful chat he had on Sunday with some of the Bad Girls. One issue raised was how to draw young families to St Luke’s & further discussion about service times. Rick discussed spending $ on marketing to help the church grow. Joe asked Rick to work on it and come back with information. Randy said a great way is for parishioners to ask friends/neighbors to come; or to have a later Sunday afternoon service with a meal.

• Tom Parker and Randy are going to Annual Convention this month Junior Warden Report- Ron Ignotz

• Accolades given to Ron, Rick & Barbara about the sacristy’s new tile floor! • Heating co. came out a few weeks ago for a service, all is good. Ron will check on the gas level mid-Dec. • Outside lights on the parish hall are not coming on, in addition to the light on the corner of the sacristy, not

sure if it’s the sensor & Ron will check it out. Senior Warden Report- Joe Gieck

• Joe has checked on Stewart Gamage who is retired and living in Richmond. • The bell is fixed. The lift fee for the repair was donated by Lynch Roofing. • Vestry nominations are in progress, 3 are needed. • Joann Rawls asked if a welcome card had been given to the 2 new people last Sunday and further

discussion about how to ensure it happens. • Randy suggested we get some kind of church management software and possibly a laptop which can be

“passed around,” Randy will look into it. Devotional for next meeting- Lou Lamb
