1 Thessalonians 5:1-5 Wednesday Night February 5, 2014

   1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that 

I should write to you. 

 

 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in 

the night.

3 For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.

4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a 

thief.

5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of 

darkness.

years... 

The Hebrew word for signs is OWTH, meaning (in the sense of appearing) - a signal (literally or figuratively), as a flag

The Hebrew word for seasons is MOED, meaning properly - an appointment, i.e. a fixed time or season; specifically, a festival

Zephaniah 1:14-1814 The great day of the LORD is near; It is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the 

day of the LORD is bitter; There the mighty men shall cry out. 15 That day is a 

day of wrath, A day of trouble and

distress, A day of devastation and desolation, A day of darkness and

Revelation 6:12-1712 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great 

earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. 13 And the stars of heaven fell

to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. 14 

Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 15 And the 

kings of the earth, the great men, the rich

men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid 

themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16 and said to the 

mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the

throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"

there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows"

Who chant "Peace" While they chew with their teeth, But who prepare war against him Who puts nothing into their mouths... 

2 Thessalonians 1:9-129 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all

those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. 11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with

 

power, 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God 

and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Numbers 10:10"Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your God: I am the LORD your God." 

4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a 

thief.

Acts 1:11"who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner 

as you saw Him go into heaven." 

John 8:12"Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who 

follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." 

5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of 

darkness

2 Corinthians 4:1-61 Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not 

lose heart. 2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God

deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 3 

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, 

who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 5 

For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your 

bondservants for Jesus' sake. 6 For it is

the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our 

hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
