Need to KnowO All sophomores will take English, Math,

and Science,

O Students should have a plan (IGP) already in place on the inside of their Career Portfolio.

O Everything on your forms must be written in pencil.

Need to KnowO You should fill in all 8 lines at the top of

the form and then list at least three alternatives at the bottom.

O Each yearlong course must be written on a line alone.

O Each semester course must be paired with another semester course. (Example: Sociology/Psychology).

Need to KnowO A two-period course at Hamilton Career

Center will occupy two lines; a four-period course will occupy four lines. The Course Guide specifies number of periods for courses.

O Be aware that some courses in the Course Guide are not offered at WHS. Look beside the course titles to determine which courses are available on our campus.

O Social Studies Courses, p. 33-35

O Sophomores are encouraged to take advantage of electives in the Social Studies department.

O If you do not pass your Social Studies class this year, you are required to take one next year.

O Most sophomores should take Chemistry CP or H.

O Those students who are taking Biology 1B as freshmen this year, are probably recommended for Physics.

O Keep in mind your Career Cluster when selecting electives.

O Remember to choose a Computer Science course if you have not completed that requirement. See p. 45.

O Students planning to go directly to a four-year college after graduation need two-three years of a World Language.

O Students starting at a two-year college do not have to take a World Language.

O Pay attention to fees, guidelines and pre-requisites.

O Pay attention to how the class is scheduled: Two periods? Four periods? Year long? Semester?

for Tutorial 2.

Final InstructionsO Write your course selections on the inside cover of your

course guide book. Take it home and discuss your selections with your parents.

O Your parents will meet with your Razor advisor before the end of March. Make sure they are prepared to make any changes and to sign your final request form at the meeting.

O Once parents and students sign off on the requested courses, there will be NO CHANGES MADE. Changes will not be allowed when you return for next school year.

O Please read and understand the “Registration Process” on p. 2 of the course guide.

Final InstructionsTeachers:

O Have students place the request forms and recommendation forms inside the career portfolios, and pass them to the front.

O Arrange materials in alphabetical order and return them to the Guidance Dept. immediately.
