Hey sorors! It’s June and we can’t believe how much time has elapsed. We are moving aggressively ahead for the betterment of our great sisterhood, Beta Sigma Omega Chapter and we are proud. We are proud of committees working together. We had a few deadlines dates that needed to be met for corporate office such as listing of 2016 delegates, estimate of pillowcase dresses survey, attendance on several conference calls. All deadlines were met! We are proud of our involvement in the community and we are very proud to be sisters. Upon our return in September, we will have one month to finalize our Cluster conference which will be held in Langston University-OKC Campus located at Millwood Arts Academy on October 21-22. We are still soliciting recruitment for Fashionetta event, which we are hopeful will occur in November. We solicit your sisterly support in making this event memorable and successful. In the month of May, our ASCEND committee took the 10th graders at Northeast Academy to an unimaginable level, exploring the Oklahoma History Center. Students explored areas of interest from Black History museum, Space Mission museum to American Indian museum. I am proud to have dedicated and committed sorors within our great sisterhood, who accompanied these students on this field trip; Sorors Lois Mosley, Linda Matthews, Sylvia Menser, Ana Sharp, Alice Duke, Kimberly Anderson, Rosetta Cravens, Alva Ewing, Charese Jones, Glimerine Ware, Linda Huggins, WyAngela Knight-Singh, Carla Smitherman and Anita Jones. Thank you Soror Sue Starr, principal of Northeast Academy, for allowing us to continue to education your students with hand-on learning and life lessons. DEDICATION and COMMITMENT are two gigantic words, which I feel confident, will lead our chapter successfully with ASCEND and all programs. As Soror Sherrell and Sue mentioned in February’s edition: “ So, in this month of Love, embrace your Heart Sister, expand your circle of love and be ever mindful that “A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.” (Isadora James). In addition, I mentioned in March, “The fabric of any membership organization is judged by the number, loyalty, and the active involvement of its members”. So I say, Let the work you do speak for you. “In conclusion, I say together, we can strengthen the success of our great sisterhood for generations of sorors to come. With God, our founders, past and present sorors, I am prayerful that the remaining months will be peaceful, prosperous and pleasurable. Remember sorors, June is AKA paraphernalia month or wear your favorite HBCU gear. Whatever you decide to wear, we will be taking an HBCU or collegiate school photo. This will be our last communication for a couple of months and I cannot pass up the opportunity to let each of you know how thankful I am to God for his guidance and to each of you for your support, hardwork, and most of all, the love that you’ve shown since I became Basileus. I have truly enjoyed these first six months and I fully realize that the chapter’s success thus far this year is because we have very dedicated, conscientious officers, committee chairman, committee vice chairman and sorors. God bless and keep each of you and have a FANTASTIC summer! My monthly prayer: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn”. Plug into the Power of Prayer Sorors in life, we will certainly be met with many challenges. There are times when things become so difficult we may want to give up. However, remember Philippians 4:19 " And my God will meet ALL your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus". Remember that God is always with us and He is willing and able to bring us through any difficulties if we let Him.

Sorors, remember the first of every month, to Plug Into the Power of Prayer. The next date is Friday, July 1st. This is a great way to jump start of your day, week and month. Please join us for an awe inspiring and moving hour of sisters praying together.
