The Sounds of Romanticism
By Hannah Gibson
This sound track focuses on Transcendentalism and Dark Romanticism music. The Transcendentalism portion of this sound track has positive, uplifting messages about finding your inner confidence to be who you are and who you want to be. It is also about finding the beauty in the natural world and appreciating it. It also talks about following your intuition because it will always lead you in the right direction. The dark romanticism portion of this soundtrack is much darker in meaning. It talks about the feeling of loneliness and how we as people are self-destructive and sinners by nature. Although Transcendentalism and Dark romanticism are very different in their meaning, they are both nice to listen to and they both make you ponder on what is important.
Faces by Scary Kids Scaring KidsLyrics
I won't believe the horror that I seeIs more than your poison inside me
Let's tear away these faces we hide behindCutting through the airwavesOpen up our mindsShow ourselves to the world tonightCause we are No longer in disguiseWell, I’m aware of your lies, how do you sleep at night? You dream of wars,
that I refuse to fight.I won't believe
the horror that I seeIs more than
your poison inside meI won't let go, though
the plague is spreadingI won't let go
This song is a great song to use to express transcendentalism to describe individuality and nonconformity. The lyrics say that it is okay for people to tear away the “faces” they are pretending to have to fit in. The lyrics talk about a plague being spread and the plague is people pretending to like things they don’t like or pretending to be something they are not just to fit in. The lyrics are telling you though that you don’t need to do that and you should just be yourself and come out of disguise.
Just Like You by Three Days Grace
LyricsI could be meanI could be angryYou know I could be just like youYou thought you were standing beside me,You were only in my way. You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you.
You thought you were there to guide me.You were only in my way. You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you.You thought you were there to guide me
This song is a great example of transcendentalism by expressing individuality. The lyrics are saying they could be like everyone else if they wanted to, but they never will be because they do not like how the other people are and they do not like how the other people behave so they want to be themselves. The lyrics also go on to say that the others were only ever in the way and they never will be how they want them to be. They are saying that the other people were holding them back from being who they are, but they
Mother Nature’s Son by The BeatlesLyrics
Born a poor young country boy, Mother Nature's sonAll day long I'm sitting singing songs for everyone
Sit beside a mountain stream, see her waters riseListen to the pretty sound of music as she fliesFind me in my field of grass, Mother Nature's sonSwaying daisies sing a lazy song beneath the sun
This song translate transcendentalism because it talks about a boy that finds beauty in nature. How he sits beside a stream and hears the pretty music of the earth. How he watches the daisy under the sun. He calls himself mother nature’s son and that is an example of how close he feels to the earth, he feels as though he is natures son.
Grazing in the Grass by Hugh MasekelaLyrics
What a trip just watchin' as the world goes past There are too many groovy things to see while grazin' in the grass Flowers with colours for takin', everything outta sight The sun peekin' out between the leaves Everything here is so clear, you can see itAnd everything here is so real, you can feel it
This song is a wonderful expression of transcendentalism by expressing the beauty in nature. It is by a man who finds nature beautiful and he is telling everyone about the wonderful things that he sees and finds while out in nature. He is inspired by nature to write this song and he can feel the truth and beauty in nature.
Intuition by JewelLyrics
It's not hard to understandJust follow this simple plan
Follow your heartYour intuitionIt will lead you in the right directionLet go of your mindYour Intuition
This song does a really good job of expressing the transcendentalism value of intuition over reason. The lyrics are telling you to just find your intuition and follow it. The song is saying to forget what is on your mind, just follow your intuition and
LyricsI keep my head up
so I don't have those anymore, IMade a choice to be the best that I
could ever beGotta stay
positive, ignore the negativity
I'm gonna follow my intuition
Telling myself to listen
Everything's gonna be okay
Follow my intuition
It's gonna be a good day
I gotta go with what feels right
Don't always need a reason why
This song has a wonderful example transcendentalism by the expression of intuition over reason. The lyrics are saying that the world can try to bring you down but you should rise about it and stay positive. The lyrics also say that you should follow your intuition and then everything will feel right. She says you need to follow your intuition even if you don’t have a reason why.

Boulevard of broken dreams Lyrics
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever
knownDon't know where
it goesBut it's home to me and I walk

You make me so lonely baby,
I get so lonely,I get so lonely I
could die.
And although it's always crowded,
you still can find some room.
Where broken hearted loversdo cry away their gloom.
You make me so lonely baby,

Panic Song by Green DayLyrics
On the brink of self destruction
Widespread panic
Broken glass inside my headBleeding down these thoughts
ofAnguish... mass
confusionThe world is a sick machineBreeding a mass of -
With such a desolate
conclusionFill the void
with... I don't care
This song is full of dark romanticism in the form of self-destruction. The lyrics in this song are about feeling like you are on the way to self-destruction because of yourself. Sometimes our biggest enemy is our own mind and they grab onto the concept here. They say that the world is breeding and it is breeding confusion and self-destructive people.
