Dorothy Day (1897-1980) was an activist, journalist, single mom, working mother, co-founder of The Catholic Worker newspaper and Houses of Hospitality where the poor and homeless would feel welcome. An unusual candidate for canonization, Dorothy Day was a devout Catholic who challenged the church’s hierarchy, courageously witnessed against racism, anti-Semitism and all forms of war and violence, not only in words but in prophetic actions. Please pray for the success of the appeal, which provides for essential programs and services in need throughout all eight counties of the Diocese of Cleveland. Celebration of the Eucharist

Weekend Saturday Vigil: 5:30 PM Sunday 9 AM & 11 AM

Weekdays: 8:30AM Monday Tuesday Wednesday & Friday

Sacrament of Reconciliation Saturday at 4:30 PM or by appointment

Dear Parishioners, A number of you might remember Fr. Deogratias Ruwaainenyi who was a member of Resurrection Parish while he was studying for the priesthood for the Diocese of Cleveland. He came to the United States from Tanzania in Africa. He was ordained in May of 2006 and celebrated his first mass here at the parish. He is presently serving as chaplain of Fairview Hospital. Deogratias became a United States citizen on Friday, February 3, 2016. Congratulations Deo!!!! Speaking of Parishioners, a number of people have asked how Jennifer Berridge, CSJ is doing. Jennifer continues in formation for the Sisters of St. Joseph and is presently living in Wheeling, West Virginia. Jennifer was home this past Christmas and served as a Eucharistic Minister for one of our Christmas masses. She is enjoying ministry and life with her religious community. Please continue to keep Jennifer in your thoughts and prayers. Enclosed in this week’s bulletin is a flier listing all of the seminarians from Borromeo and St. Mary studying for the Diocese of Cleveland. I thought you might find it of interest. I encourage you to pray for those in formation for the priesthood, religious life and lay leadership, as well as to pray that God will continue to call women and men to service for our Church. Finally, I ask you to pray for Pope Francis as he discerns who might best serve as the next Shepherd of the Diocese of Cleveland. Have a blessed week. Fr. Tom Dragga

Visiting the Homebound with Communion

The parish Ministry of Presence volunteers visit the sick and homebound, whether for a short time of recuperation or long-term. If you or someone you know would like a visitor to bring communion, or just to spend a little time in visiting and prayer, please contact the parish office. Those who have been involved in this ministry in the past - if you’ve borrowed one of the small holders for communion, called a pyx, from the parish, and it’s sitting at home, we’d be grateful for its return so that other volunteers can borrow them. Thank you!

Becoming Human As part of our continued study on Becoming Human, we would like to concretely visualize individually and as a parish family our dreams, hopes and intentions for ourselves, our families, communities, country and the world. We hope that by creating this sacred space to dream together as a community, we will be inspired and motivated to bring to life in our thoughts and actions a new understanding of what it means to be human in the best sense as modeled by the Incarnation of Jesus. We invite you to help create our vision board by adding pictures, photos, drawings, cards, words, quotes, stickers, or anything else that would symbolize your dream and commitment to creating a world that respects the dignity of each member of our human family. There will be markers, crayons, magazines and scissors for cutting out images, and glue sticks available to use. Feel free to bring things in from home to add to this Community Prayer. We hope that everyone in the parish will contribute to this visual reminder of who we are and how we want to walk in the world. These prayers dreams and hopes will be used as part of our examination of conscience at our communal reconciliation service.

(4) We commit ourselves to serve others and reach out to the poor in response to their needs. Our work for justice extends to advocating with integrity for positive change in society and the Church.

For Teens Coping with Cancer This annual event enables teens to attend their very own prom. It is a magical night out away from hospitals, sick beds, and hovering parents, at no cost to patients and families. The support of caring companies, organizations and individuals through donated or discounted goods, services, contributions, and time make it possible.

It all starts with the annual Dress Drive & Dress Extravaganza For your convenience you can drop your items off at Church of the Resurrection during the month of February. A box is located in Trivison hall to place your gently used prom attire.
