1983: Research Office, Research Endowment Fund established

1985: 1 grant given (Norwich-Eaton)

1986-2000: 10 new grant mechanisms added (4 collaborative; 2 endowed; 2 corporate)

1999: CORE program established

2002-2003: Electronic grant application and review system launched

GRANT PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

• Prepare young investigators to write competitive grant applications

• Provide seed/pilot funds for preliminary data collection, development of skills

• Prepare reviewers to sit on NIH and other comparable study sections
