Visiting Authors Term 1 We finished off Term 1 with some fantastic visiting authors from the Byron Bay Writers' Festival. Zanni Louise visited Stage 1, Samantha Turnbull Stage 2 and Jesse Blackadder Stage 3 on the last Wednesday of Term 1. The students who were successful with their application participated in a writer's workshop with these amazing Australian authors. Students were able to learn first hand from these accomplished authors exactly what it takes to build a great story. Stage 1 were at the Infants' campus, Stage 2 in the Library and Stage 3 used the Festival bus and enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather and wrote outside in the writing tepees. It was a great way to finish the term! Term 2 This term we also have Aleesah Darlison visiting our school on Friday Week 4. Throughout the day, she will present a different talk for all students from Kindy to Year 6 based around her experience as another great Australian author. More information about her can be found at http://www.aleesahdarlison.com . Book Club Issue 3 brochure has been sent home and closes on Tuesday 15th May, so please have your order done online via The Loop by this date. Mrs Heyman Teacher-Librarian Thank you to our parents who are already using the Skoolbag app. We are finding this a very easy form of communication for our parents to access. Many parents are using the app to explain absences and sign permission notes. Currently we have 255 parents who have downloaded this app. Your continued support would be greatly appreciated as we hope to have a paperless newsletter in the very near future.
