November - Jacaranda Thursday Half Day Public Holiday –TOMORROW School will be open from 8.30am -1.00pm. Buses will provide morning transport but will NOT be picking students up at 1.00pm. All students attending school must be picked up by parents by 1.00pm. Good luck to our students performing on Friday 2nd November at the Telstra Riverlight Festival (Venetian Carnival) Our Academy Choir, Year 3 Dance and Stage 3 Dance are performing from 6.00pm to 6.15pm. Performers need to meet teachers at 5.30pm. All students involved have received permission notes which need to be returned.

Congratulations to our Aboriginal Dancers who performed for the Clarence Valley Ramblers on Sunday at the Grafton Greyhound track. Vice Captain Tallara Taylor delivered an Acknowledgement of Country before our dancers performed the Welcome Dance and Black Magic dance. The students choreographed both dances themselves and the Ramblers were thrilled with their presentation. Our thanks to Miss Taylor, Miss Albert and Mrs Lavery as well as all families who were able to attend. Our school is currently refurbishing our school Library with modern flexible furniture. Our P&C is financially supporting our school with this new furniture which will be installed at the beginning of next year. Have a great week Mr Peter Hickey Principal Our PPP students enjoyed a visit from Busways this week.

On Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of November six South Grafton Public School students represented the school with PRIDE at the annual Clarence Valley Equestrian Challenge. The 2 day event began with a Grand Parade where over 150 individual riders represented 15 schools and districts from Port Macquarie to the Queensland border. The riders then competed in a range of equestrian disciplines: flat riding, dressage, show jumping, team penning, sporting and a schools relay event over the 2 day event. Our students were represented in all events over the competition and achieved some personal best results over both days.

The P&C are holding a Christmas Hamper Raffle to be drawn at the Carols on the Green. They are asking the community for donations of Christmas themed non-perishable food items. Any donations can be left at either office. Thanks for your support. More information contact Kelly Vickers on 0419 162 075.

The infants campus is participating in an Outdoor Learning Day this Friday 2nd November. Staff are pairing up for some fantastic activities including a Ninja Warrior Course, a Rainforest study a Scavenger Hunt, some cloud drawing, gardening, texture trail and some bubble art. Students will be divided into groups and they will participate in 3 half hour activities. We will begin around 9:10am and finish at recess. It should be a fantastic morning of learning outdoors (weather permitting).
