30th Annual Over the River Run
The Southern Book Club (SBC) meets the third Wednesday of each month. In August, the monthly book is The Muse: A Novel by Jessie Burton.
July 1967, Mayfair, London--a painting is left propped on the doorstep of the Skeleton Gallery, discovered by Odelle Bastien, a Caribbean émigré trying to make her way in London. The painting is rumored to be the work of Isaac Robles, whose mysterious death has confounded the art world for decades. The excitement over the painting is only matched by the tension around the conflicting stories of its discovery. Odelle is unsure who or what to believe as she is drawn into a complex web of secrets and deceptions.
The SBC will meet on Wednesday, August 15th at 7:00 p.m. Call the SCHF office at 601.631.2997 for the meeting location.
The SCHF is very excited to present the 30th Annual Over the River Run on Saturday, October 13th at 8am. Mark your calendars because you will not want to miss this special 30th anniversary celebration!
This unique run follows a scenic course heading west across the
Mississippi River to Delta, Louisiana and then returns back to the finish line. The event involves a 5-mile run, 5-mile walk and a one-mile fun run for kids. Entertainment, fun and refreshments for all runners, walkers and volunteers will follow the race in the Ameristar Delta Point parking lot. Musical entertainment will be provided by the party band, Slaphappy.
The SCHF is still accepting sponsorships for the 30th Annual Over the Rive Run. For sponsorship information, please call the SCHF business office at 601.631.2997 or visit www.southernculture.org.
