At Southern Seminary, we recognize the need for a minister’s wife to be educated,

equipped and prepared for ministry as she and her husband prepare for service in the church and beyond

The courses in the Seminary Wives Institute (SWI) are designed to prepare student wives with biblically based teaching and practical applications. Wives are taught by our own seminary faculty as well as faculty wives and guest speakers.

Basic Certificate in Ministry Studies Women who earn eight units will be awarded a Basic Certificate in Ministry Studies.Units taken will include the following eight non-accredited courses:(8 units required)• WMI 110/120 Women’s Ministry in the Local Church I & II• WMI 130 Spiritual Growth for Women • WMI 140 Biblical Foundations for Women’s Ministry• WMI 210/220 Leadership Skills for Women I & II• WMI 410 Wise Counsel for Women• WMI 510 Women and Evangelism

Advanced Certificate in Ministry Studies Upon completion of the Basic Certificate in Ministry Studies, a student may be awarded an Advanced Certificate in Ministry Studies by completing an additional eight units of study. Connections

Pendergraph Women’s Ministry was created to meet the need for fellowship and sharing of common concerns among wives of seminary students and female students. Monthly meetings afford opportunities for women on campus to share and to fellowship.

Great Commission Women is an organization for women in the seminary community who are interested in future service in the areas of missions, evangelism, church growth, and church planting. Events offered help inform and prepare women as they seek to fulfill the Great Commission.

Shepherding Groups meet monthly during the semester as an opportunity for seminary students to have fellowship with one another and the faculty. A special shepherding group connected with the Women’s Leadership office is designed for all seminary women on campus.

WC5 Women’s Coffee & Chocolate Chit Chat Cafe networks Masters and Doctoral students with influential women in informal settings on campus.

Women’s Auxiliary is composed of friends of Southern Seminary who graciously give toward scholarships for women.
