A Distinctive Atmosphere Viewed from the outside, the Southlake Campus has a straightforward, businesslike appearance that fits its busy Vernon Hills location, less than 10 minutes from shopping centers, office parks and the Tri-State Tollway.

Walk inside, however, and you’ll discover an ambiance that’s far removed from the stress of work and traffic. It’s a special place that is equal parts physical environment and caring people. Here you’ll find a spacious, light-filled building that just feels welcoming. There are faculty who are easy to approach and staff who are committed to quality service. Counselors who will take whatever time is needed to answer your questions and help you achieve your goals. It’s an environment that is totally dedicated to offering you uninterrupted moments for learning and self-discovery.

So Many Learning Options

Begin a four-year degree Transferable courses allow you to complete all requirements for an Associate in Arts degree—the equivalent of the first two years of a bachelor’s degree.

Prepare for a new career Degree, professional and certificate programs will prepare you for immediate, rewarding career options upon completion at CLC.

Sharpen professional skills

In our semester-long courses, you will learn the latest versions of Microsoft Office, digital imaging software and more. Looking for a faster option? Southlake also offers day-long seminars on practical business skills—from technology to project management to leadership development.

Improve language skills If you are new to the United States and want to develop skills in English, we can help. We offer a variety of course options to help you build basic skills in English or the more advanced ability needed to practice a profession or pursue a degree in the U.S.

Enrich your life If you want to learn for learning’s sake, we offer a wide range of personal enrichment courses—everything from photography to current events or conversational Spanish—with many classes designed for adults 50 and older.

So Many Services

Campus and Student Support Center allows you to take care of almost everything related to your CLC enrollment and college success. Apply to the college, register for classes, explore financial aid options and receive academic, career, transfer and personal counseling.

Learning Assistance Center has skilled tutors who provide one-on-one assistance in many subjects. You can also take a variety of tests, including proficiency and course placement.

Center for Health and Wellness Promotion is open to you as a student or community member. It provides health and wellness clinical services including massage therapy appointments, wellness coaching and personal training at an attractive fee per session.

Full-service library offers books, journals, Internet workstations, access to electronic databases and assistance from skilled librarians.

Career Counseling and Job Search Assistance will guide you in career planning. Counselors provide assessment testing, interpretations and help with resumes, cover letters and interviewing.

Educational Options at Southlake

Associate Degree Programs

Associate in Arts DegreeEarn an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree by attending the Southlake Campus exclusively. Transfer and career courses that lead to completing other CLC degree programs are also offered at the Southlake Campus.

Associate in Applied Science Degree in Health and Wellness PromotionHelp others through the prevention of illness, injury and disease by effectively applying principles and practices of holistic coaching. Three specialty options are offered: personal training, wellness coaching and massage therapy.

Certificate Program s

Massage TherapyPrepare to work as a massage therapist in a variety of health care and recreational settings. You will complete ten courses in two semesters of classwork and prepare for the national certification examination (NCBTMB) in Therapeutic Massage.

Personal TrainingGain the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to seek out and maintain viable employment in the health and fitness industry. Curricula are aligned with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) Program.

Wellness CoachingTake courses that will prepare you to complete the national certification in wellness or life coaching.

Nurse AssistingIn just eight weeks, prepare to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and begin a career providing hands-on care to those who are unable to care for themselves. CNAs may be employed in a variety of care settings including hospitals, nursing homes and private homes.

Nanoscience Technology ClassesComplete courses in nanotechnology, an emerging science involving the manipulation of atoms and molecules at the nanometer scale.

Professional Programs

Pharmacy TechnicianLearn the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to prepare for entry-level work in a pharmacy setting and to prepare for a national certification exam.

Real EstateStart or enhance your career in real estate sale, brokerage and home inspection.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

Learn speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Enroll at the beginning, intermediate or advanced level, or in a class emphasizing work on a particular skill.

Lifelong Learning

Take a trip, learn new skills, meet new people, relive history or appreciate the arts in a fun-filled, relaxing environment. The Center for Personal Enrichment offers programming for adults, youths and seniors.

Campus and Student Support Center, Room V130Get general campus information and assistance with the following services: admissions, registration, financial aid and academic, personal, transfer and career counseling. Engage in campus activities and student leadership opportunities to enrich the college experience by picking up a schedule of events available here.

Center for Health and Wellness Promotion, Room R202Receive clinical services including massage therapy, wellness coaching and personal training at an attractive fee.

Learning Assistance Center, Room V212Use testing and tutoring services. Some testing is by appointment only. Tutors in math, writing and other subjects are available for day and evening sessions.

Library, Room V106Take advantage of comfortable work areas for individual or group study or assistance from librarians. An on-site collection includes newspapers, magazines and reference and circulation books. Request and pick up books from other CLC libraries and return books checked out at any CLC campus.

Open Computer Lab, Room V220Need access to a computer? This computer lab is open to CLC students and community users. It has a dedicated computer work station with assistance devices for users with special needs.

Workforce and Professional Development Institute ProgramsInvest in your professional team or empower your own career by accessing training and cutting-edge courses to improve professional skills and organizational effectiveness.

Small Business Consulting Take advantage of individualized counseling for entrepreneurs as well as workshops for small business owners on topics such as start-up and planning, marketing and finance.

Meeting SpacesExperience a fresh setting for your staff or clients by using our excellent facilities for a meeting, seminar or a multi-day conference. A multi-purpose conference center has flexible space options seating up to 90. For smaller groups, classrooms with seating up to 32 are available.

Green RoofArrange a hands-on, instructional lecture to learn about Southlake’s green roof— the first of its kind on a public structure in Lake County. This living laboratory demonstrates the benefits of sustainable practices.

Directions to Southlake CampusThe College of Lake County Southlake Campus is located in Vernon Hills, south of Route 60 and north of the intersection of Route 45 and Route 21.

From the NorthTake I-94 to the Half-Day Road (Route 22) exit, and turn right at the stoplight.

Take Route 22 to Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21). At the stoplight, turn right (Route 21).

Turn left onto Port Clinton Road into the Southlake Campus.

From the SouthTake I-94 to the Half-Day Road (Route 22) exit, and turn left at the stoplight.

Take Route 22 to Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21). At the stoplight, turn right (Route 21).

Turn left onto Port Clinton Road into the Southlake Campus.

From the EastTake Route 60 west to Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21). Head south (left turn) and go 2.5 miles.

Turn right onto Port Clinton Road into the Southlake Campus.

OR

Take Route 22 west to Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21).

Turn north (right turn). Turn left onto Port Clinton Road into the Southlake Campus.

From the WestTake Route 60 east to Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21). Head south (right turn) and go 2.5 miles.

Turn right on to Port Clinton Road into the Southlake Campus.

OR

Take Route 22 east to Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21). Turn north (left turn). Turn left onto Port Clinton Road into the Southlake Campus.
