PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Welcome to the 20th Annual South West Bull Development Sale! A little over 20 years ago a group of progressive

breeders gathered at Melita one evening and discussed the idea of starting this development centre. I would like

to thank those breeders for getting this started. Some of those breeders have moved on, both with their own sales

and out of the business all together. But who I would really like to thank is the Batho and Rimke families for

staying committed to this Development Centre for 20 years and the quality presented today is impressive as ever.

These bulls are fed in a large area allowing lots of exercise for them to grow and develop. They are fed a balanced

ration consisting of 50% hay, 47.5% oats, along with 2.5% of the ration consisting of mineral and supplements.

All the bulls have passed a semen evaluation before the sale. They have been tested and are negative

for types 1 and 2 BVD. The carcass data has been collected and will be available on sale day. They must

end the test period with a combined ADG and WDA index of 180 to be in the sale. All the breeders of

these bulls stand behind them 100%.

The sale is at the Oak Lake Town Hall again this year. The bulls have been videoed prior to sale and clips

of each bull will be presented during the sale. This allows us to present the bulls in a stress free enviroment

for everyone involved. Come check out the bulls at the centre in the morning or anytime before the sale.

Have some complimentary lunch at the hall and enjoy the sale in the warmth of indoors.

There are bulls for everyone at this sale. Herefords, and both Black and Red Angus. Bulls to excel in the calving ease.

Bulls that will creat the next generation of our cow herd as well as bulls that will produce the calves that top the market

in the fall. I would like to congratulate all the other consignors for bringing a great set of bulls to offer today.
