The goal is to improve the delivery of health care to injured patients by promoting trauma education, collaborative research, and outreach activities. About the Annual Conference The Southwest Trauma & Acute Care Symposium is a premier conference on current trauma care practice. The faculty line-up features many of the top speakers and leaders in trauma. The content will be of special interest to physicians (in trauma, orthopedics, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, and critical care) and registered nurses involved in trauma care in the acute resuscitation phase (emergency department and operating room) and in critical care. Others involved in trauma care on an advanced level may also wish to attend (paramedics, respiratory therapists). The symposium is held annually in November. This conference is unique in that it oers a high- denition internet live version for those who are unable to travel. This option is only open to attendees outside of the metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona area. Learning Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, the participants will be able to: 1. Demonstrate innovative management techniques of both common and unusual trauma cases. 2. Apply evidence- based medicine to trauma care. 3. Dierentiate the diagnosis and treatment options between pediatric and adult trauma cases. 4. Demonstrate methods to integrate core trauma and the critical trauma sub- specialties (such as pediatrics, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, radiology, and others).
