A TV personality, he hosts the daily literary show Un Livre par jour (France 3, TV 5), in which he interviews well-known literary figures. Editor-in-Chief of the cultural magazine Senso, he is also the author of numerous books on literature, cinema, and travel. His recent works include: Noir et Blanc (with Raymond Chirat, 2000); Lettres d’Amérique (with Philippe Labro, 2001); Je ne suis pas là (2004); and Voyage au pays des salles obscures (with Alain Bouldouyre, 2006). JEAN-PAUL DUBOIS M o n d a y, February 26, 7:00 p.m. Jean-Paul Dubois is a journalist turned novelist, winner in 2004 of the prestigious Prix Femina for his novel Une Vie française. As foreign correspondent for Le Nouvel Observateur, he lived in the U.S. for 15 years. This American experience inspired the novels L’Amérique m’inquiète (2002) and Jusqu’ici tout allait bien en Amérique (2003). His other works include Kennedy et moi (1996, Prix France Télévisions); Hommes entre eux (2007); and Parfois je ris tout seul (2007). PHILIPPE BESSON Tu e s d a y, April 10, 7:00 p.m. Philippe Besson was a lawyer and a law professor before turning to writing in 1999. En l’absence des hommes (2001), his first novel, received the Prix Emmanuel-Roblès from the “Académie Goncourt.” Patrice Chéreau adapted his second book, Son frère (2001) to the screen. Recently, his controversial novel, L’enfant d’octobre (2006), fictionalized the celebrated criminal case, “l’affaire Grégory.” His other works include L’arrière saison (2003) which earned him the RTL-Lire Prize, Un Garçon d'Italie (2003); and Se résoudre aux adieux (2007). ALAIN FLEISCHER M o n d a y, April 30, 7:00 p.m. Alain Fleischer, a multidisciplinary artist, is an accomplished filmmaker, photographer, visual artist, essayist and novelist. At the core of his œuvre one finds an exploration of image and film and of media in general. He is also the director of Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains in Tourcoing. His books include Les Trapézistes et le rat (2001); La Hache et le violon (2004); L’accent. Une langue fantôme (2005); La Femme couchée par écrit (2005); Immersion (2005); and L'Amant en culottes courtes (2006). In French and English Free and open to the public
