• During the 16th century, the Spanish created the most shocking empire in European history by conquering and colonizing boundless lands in America and even Rome. The Spanish population extended in ancient Rome, the place that once had imperial power. By the 16th century Spanish empire was feared by its European rivals and by fear and self-defense, the French, Portuguese, English, and Dutch decided to go to America and colonize or rob areas for themselves.

• The Spanish military had horses and war dogs which were new to the Indians. The Indians were not used to big animals, so they were amazed how the horses could aid the Spanish greatly. The natives had dogs too, but they were a lot smaller and weren’t trained to kill, unlike the Spanish dogs which were mastiffs, they were sent after the Indian warriors. The Spanish also had a lot of allies, many Indian villages had given in to the Spanish rule to save themselves.

• Most of the men who migrated into the Americas were young single men. They would eventually marry the Indians and the population of mestizos grew. During the mid-century, Mexico and Peru became the greatest centers of the Spanish empire.
