Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Cos-ta Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mrs. Weiss’s students celebrated with food and dance. Thank you students for the great food and your hard work on the dance rou-tine. (More Pictures on Pg. 2)

On Friday September 30th the students in the Natural Resources Academy had a special guest—Tulu, a six month old Eastern Gray kangaroo. Tulu was accompanied by 2014 Kathleen graduate Missy Shipley who works on the farm where Tulu was born. Missy spoke to students about the importance of building an experienced based resume while in high school. Missy was able to secure her job at the exotic animal farm because of her ability to operate a tractor, identify toxic weeds, and basic animal care skills, along with others she developed through participation in the Natural Resources Academy.
