NANDINI GUPTAAKGEC
Julian Treasure: How to speak so that people want to listen
HUMAN VOICEIT IS THE MOST POWERFUL SOUND IN THE WORLD
HUMAN VOICE CAN START A WAR
OR SAY I LOVE YOU
BUT SOME PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEM AS TO WHY OTHERS DON’T LISTEN TO THEM..
WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN ?
HABITS WE NEED TO MOVE AWAY FROM :
DEADLY SINS
1. GOSSIP
Gossip is idle talk or rumour, especially about the personal or private affairs of others.
2. JUDGING
ITS VERY HARD TO LISTEN TO SOMEBODY IF YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE BEING JUDGED AND WANTED AT THE SAME TIME.
3. NEGATIVITY
Expressing, containing, or consisting of a negation, refusal, or denialAND IT GETS HARD TO LISTEN WHEN SOMEONE IS SO NEGATIVE.
3. COMPLAINING
Expressing dissatisfaction or annoyance about something.
4. EXCUSES
To make allowance for; overlook or forgive
5. BLAME THROWER
An attempt to shift blame for your failures.
6. EXAGERRATION
A statement that represents something as better or worse than it really is.AND THEN IT BECOMES LYING, OBVIOUSLY WE DON’T LIKE TO HEAR TO PEOPLE WHO ARE LYING TO US..
The tendency to lay down principles as undeniably true, without consideration of evidence or the opinions of others.
7. DOGMATISM
There are four really powerful cornerstones, foundations, that we can stand on if we want our speech to be powerful and to make change in the world:
H.A.I.L.
H.A.I.L.
HONESTY
AUTHENTICITY
INTEGRITY
LOVE
HONESTY
AUTHENTICITY
INTEGRITY
LOVE
BE CLEAR AND STRAIGHT
BE YOURSELF
BE YOUR WORD
WISH THEM WELL
OUR VOICE IS A TOOL BOX WHICH VERY FEW PEOPLE HAVE OPENED
TOOLS--
2. TIMBRE
1. REGISTERS
the research shows that we prefer voices which are rich, smooth, warm, like hot chocolate
3. PROSODYThis is the sing-song, the meta-language that we use in order to impart meaning. It's root one for meaning in conversation . People who speak all on one note are really quite hard to listen to if they don't have any prosody at all.
4. PACE
I can get very excited by saying something really quickly, or I can slow right down to emphasize, and at the end of that, of course, is our old friend silence.
5. PITCH
6. VOLUME
Pitch is an integral part of the human voice. The pitch of the voice is defined as the "rate of vibration of the vocal folds" .
