speakOUT Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 - 8:30pm Center on Halsted (Hoover-Leppen Theatre) Through performance and discussion, Hip Hop on the Down Low will explore what it means to be an LGBT artist in a genre that is known for its emphasis on masculinity and hyper-sexualized images of women. Chicago-based Hip Hop and Spoken Word artists will perform some of their own work and share stories of their personal experiences working and living within the Hip Hop genre. Emcee Sage Morgan-Hubbard will facilitate a question and answer session with the artists after the performance.
