The nine week MBF Healthy Lifestyle Challenge runs until June 13. Enjoy a crash course in any form from a range of activities including social walks at your own pace, tai chi, bike rides, access to local gyms, dance classes, cooking lessons and much more. As part of its ongoing commitment to a healthier community, MBF is supporting the Healthy Lifestyle Challenge for a fourth consecutive year. Dr Christine Bennett Chief Medical Officer from Bupa Australia, which operates the leading health insurance brands MBF, HBA and Mutual Community, believes the event will encourage the community to take a positive step towards improving their health and wellness. “At MBF we are proud to support the communities in which we operate. This support ranges from local to national initiatives that encourage all Australians to make positive lifestyle choices in order to live longer, healthier, happier lives,” she said. “MBF is proud to work with Activate NT to present this worthwhile event and we would like to encourage members of the local community to participate and take an active role in improving their health. “This also aligns our comprehensive online health information resource, in2life, which is designed to provide members with practical steps to improving their health and wellness, while sending a strong message that their good health begins with them. We encourage people to participate in as many program activities as they can, to keep up the good habits they will learn throughout the program but most of all to enjoy the Challenge!” Coordinator of the program, Lynn Lee from General Practice Network NT, says Activate NT has been developed to encourage residents to adopt a healthier lifestyle and try a number of activities and see what they enjoy. “Activate NT is not for the super fit or a boot camp. It's a fun initiative aimed at giving community members a taste of some of the great activities on offer in Darwin and Palmerston,” she said. Last year more than 300 people participated in the event. This year the Activate NT team hope that 500 people will take up the Darwin versus Palmerston pedometer challenge. “We do encourage some friendly rivalry between Palmerston and Darwin members and last year saw Palmerston victorious. Don't think about it, get Active. You won't regret participating in this initiative. It costs only $40 for adults, with Concessions and MBF and mutual community customers at $30 and this year a special price of $70 applies if you sign up with a friend or partner. “We know that it's more fun exercising with a friend or partner so the price of $70 for two people has been introduced. No matter what your age, we hope many Palmerston residents will register for this event. The cost is less than half a tank of fuel, the range of activities is fantastic and you'll meet people too - why wouldn't you get involved?” Lynn said. Don't think aboutit, get Active

And we're off! The Activate NT Challenge started on

Monday and is off to a great start. Nearly 400

Darwin and Palmerston residents registered on the

weekend and took on the challenge to get active

and be a part of Activate NT 2010.

There's still time to get involved. If you want to try

different activities to see what suits you and meet new

people - Activate NT is the answer for you.

We all know the challenges of improving fitness.

Finding the time, the funds for memberships and, most

importantly, finding out what it is that you really enjoy.

That's why Activate NT has made your decision to get

active easier. The nine week MBF Healthy Lifestyle

Challenge runs until June 13.

Enjoy a crash course in any form from a range of

activities including social walks at your own pace, tai

chi, bike rides, access to local gyms, dance classes,

cooking lessons and much more.

As part of its ongoing commitment to a healthier

community, MBF is supporting the Healthy Lifestyle

Challenge for a fourth consecutive year.

Dr Christine Bennett Chief Medical Officer from Bupa

Australia, which operates the leading health insurance

brands MBF, HBA and Mutual Community, believes the

event will encourage the community to take a positive

step towards improving their health and wellness.

“At MBF we are proud to support the communities in

which we operate. This support ranges from local to

national initiatives that encourage all Australians to

make positive lifestyle choices in order to live longer,

healthier, happier lives,” she said.

“MBF is proud to work with Activate NT to present this

worthwhile event and we would like to encourage

members of the local community to participate and

take an active role in improving their health.

“This also aligns our comprehensive online health

information resource, in2life, which is designed to

provide members with practical steps to improving their

health and wellness, while sending a strong message

that their good health begins with them. We encourage

people to participate in as many program activities as

they can, to keep up the good habits they will learn

throughout the program but most of all to enjoy the

Challenge!”

Coordinator of the program, Lynn Lee from General

Practice Network NT, says Activate NT has been

developed to encourage residents to adopt a healthier

lifestyle and try a number of activities and see what they

enjoy.

“Activate NT is not for the super fit or a boot camp. It's

a fun initiative aimed at giving community members a

taste of some of the great activities on offer in Darwin

and Palmerston,” she said.

Last year more than 300 people participated in the

event. This year the Activate NT team hope that 500

people will take up the Darwin versus Palmerston

pedometer challenge.

“We do encourage some friendly rivalry between

Palmerston and Darwin members and last year saw

Palmerston victorious.

Don't think about it, get Active. You won't regret

participating in this initiative. It costs only $40 for adults,

with Concessions and MBF and mutual community

customers at $30 and this year a special price of $70

applies if you sign up with a friend or partner.

“We know that it's more fun exercising with a friend or

partner so the price of $70 for two people has been

introduced. No matter what your age, we hope many

Palmerston residents will register for this event. The

cost is less than half a tank of fuel, the range of activities

is fantastic and you'll meet people too - why wouldn't

you get involved?” Lynn said.

Darwin City Council Lord Mayor Graeme Sawyer

encourages all Darwin residents to get involved in

Activate NT.

“I encourage all members of the Darwin community to

take up the challenge, get active, have fun and meet

some friends along the way. Give it a go _ all you have

to lose are the kilos,” he said.
