FALL/WINTER 2020
June 11 - July 3 CLUE: ON STAGE Three week run! Straight from Broadway!
Adapted by Jonathan Lynn from the Paramount Pictures film and the board game from Hasbro, Inc.
It’s a dark and stormy night, and you’ve been invited to a most unusual dinner party! You’re given an
alias, a choice of weapons, and the host is, well, dead! So…whodunnit? And more importantly, who’s
next? Join iconic oddballs Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock, and Mustard as they race to find the
murderer before the body count at Boddy Manor stacks up! Rated PG.
July 6 - July 24 SOUTHERN FRIED FUNERAL By Osborne and Eppler
Dewey Frye is dead, and the rest of his family is left to pick up the
pieces – if they don’t kill each other first! Not only does Dorothy Frye
have to deal with sudden widowhood, she must contend with a nosy
church lady, a snake-in-the-grass brother-in-law, and two grown
daughters acting like toddlers. Funerals definitely bring out the worst,
the best, and the funniest in people. A big-hearted comedy about
family – Southern style! Rated G.
July 27 - August 7 JEEVES IN BLOOM Adapted by Margaret Raether from the stories of PG Wodehouse
The quiet English countryside will never be the same after Bertie
Wooster and his unflappable butler, Jeeves, pay a visit! What starts
as a plan to play matchmaker for a tongue-tied, newt-loving friend goes hilariously wrong. Soon Bertie is
fending off unwanted amorous advances, a bungling burglary, and a homicidal French chef! Can the
one and only Jeeves save the day? A delightfully silly and high-energy comedy! Rated G.
August 13 & 14 Special Comedy Stand-Up Weekend . . .
August 20 PowerPlay A night of Rock n’ Soul with Horns! High energy band playing your
favorite songs from the 60’s and 70’s! Don’t forget your dancing shoes!
August 21 Elvis Under the Stars! A special evening with Elvis Tribute Artist Barry Lockard
(Breaking Up with Elvis) and friends, celebrating "the King" and paying homage to Rupp Arena's
"concert that never was."
Last summer, against all odds, we celebrated 71 sensational years in the Bluegrass! Our season was short
but incredibly sweet. With the help of a small but mighty cast and crew, we were able to offer a two-week run of
one play, plus a stand-up comedy weekend! Yes, it was only one show compared to five, and yes, we had to
reduce our seating capacity by half…but we did it! We brought our fellow Kentuckians together (safely) during a
very difficult time, for some much-needed laughter.
We are proud of the fact that we were the only theatre in Kentucky, and one of the only theatres in the entire
country (including New York City’s Broadway!) able to offer live theatre during a global pandemic!
Thank you to all those who came out to support us! Thank you to all those who supported us from afar!
Many of you donated your 2020 season passes so that we wouldn’t be so hard hit when rolling around to our 2021
season. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
As you can see, we’ve changed things up a bit for our 72nd season. We're hopeful that life for all of us
will be back to normal next year, but because there's still uncertainty surrounding Covid-19, we wanted to be
cautious with our scheduling. We love the three plays we are doing, and we know you will too. Adding a live
music weekend to the mix, along with our usual stand-up comedy, will be a blast! Especially with Elvis “back
in the building!” We can't wait to welcome you all back to the Playhouse next summer!

We need your help! Last year’s reduced season at the mandatory 50% capacity seating definitely took
its toll on our usual box office income. On top of that, we were completely cut from state funding after decades of receiving crucial assistance.
