WELCOMING

GATHERING WELCOME MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS PRELUDE Variations on Hyfrodol -- Paul Manz

LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE Mary Ginnebaugh *CALL TO WORSHIP………………………………………..Mary Ginnebaugh The God of steadfast love calls us together. We are gifted by God’s promised presence. God names us and gathers us as one body; God inclines an ear to us and hears our prayers. God leads us to face ourselves and our potential; God prompts us to wrestle with our fears. We come to hear God’s Word once more; we come to praise and worship our God of grace and glory. Let us worship God. *PRAYER OF THE DAY…….……………………………….Mary Ginnebaugh Eternal God, help us to measure our time, in faithful generosity, that your will be done, your kingdom come, for life everlasting, in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. *HYMN #307………………………………."God of Grace and God of Glory" CALL TO CONFESSION………………………………………Mary Ginnebaugh PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) ………….…………...Mary Ginnebaugh God, we don’t have much to confess. For we are not so much prodigal sons and daughters who have squandered a fortune as we are elder sons and daughters, dutiful, faithful, and true. But God, we are perplexed by the extravagance of your mercy, surpassing every human standard of fairness. We are resentful and angered by your goodness to those who always need to be bailed out of trouble. We confess not deeds of mischief, but the dangerous feelings of resentment, jealousy, and the refusal to forgive and feel joy. God, forgive our invisible caustic sins. Free us to love generously, without calculation. Amen. SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION WORDS OF ASSURANCE *RESPONSE IN SONG #614 Great are you, Lord: you are holy and just; by your power we trust in your love. Great are you, Lord: you are faithful and true; by your mercy you prove you are love. Great are you, Lord, and worthy of glory! Great are you, Lord, and worthy of praise. Great are you, Lord. We lift up our voice; We lift up our voice: Great are you, Lord! Great are you, Lord!

*THE PEACE Jesus said: “As the Lord has forgiven us, let us also forgive one another.” The peace of the Lord Jesus be with you. And also with you. We exchange signs of peace. (children leave for Sunday School)
