Our bespoke service is supported by a dynamic team of multi-skilled technical staff based at our custom-built workshop and laboratory facilities in Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth. Our best-in-class tools are selected and regularly tested to ensure excellent, enduring performance, and are tailored to support individual specialist project requirements such as safety-critical environments and hazardous areas.

With more than 1000 different types of equipment and an asset register comprising more than 20,000 individual items, our hire fleet offers the full spectrum of specialist tools for every discipline involved in offshore oil and gas maintenance, modifications, hook-up and decommissioning.

Safety and Performance Monitoring

Our commitment to excellence and adding value, through competitive services, extends to working closely with a carefully selected supply chain ensuring only best-in-class tools in terms of safety, performance and integrity. These are integrated into our extensive fleet of hire equipment. In line with our aim to provide a safer working environment, we have invested in a purpose-built, dedicated hand-arm vibration (HAV) and noise assessment testing centre where we carry out our safety, performance and integrity testing on our equipment fleet in simulated onsite conditions.

Our performance testing programme for tools and consumable items ensures improved reliability and productivity of tools, and establishes the safest and most efficient consumable items to be used in conjunction with the tools. Specifically our tests look for improved performance in power consumption, safety, vibration and noise reduction, weight and general all-round performance.

These include: test and measurement equipment, electrical and mechanical equipment, lifting equipment and accessories, welding packages, environmental monitoring, thermal imaging and communication equipment, as well as customised storage containers built to offshore specification.

SES also supplies secure and reliable logistics services, including warehousing, manifesting, shipping and the management and transportation of dangerous goods. Our operations are fully compliant with Oil and Gas UK and Step Change guidelines on safe packaging and handling of offshore cargo.

Condition Monitoring

To ensure integrity of our equipment, we carry out a variety of condition monitoring tests to establish the condition of the components and to detect any signs of deterioration. These include: HAV and noise testing analysis (comparisons are made to earlier tests to detect early signs of wear in components such as bearings); portable appliance testing; current injection testing of all circuit breakers and overload relays, and thermal imaging to detect equipment hot spots when used under load.
