DURATION & PRICE 3 days or 6 evenings in class $800.00 (GST not applicable) This training course will take a trainee Technician or Electrician through the technical requirements that are needed to install a modern electronic security system in a domestic or small commercial application.

This training course has been designed and developed to take a trainee Technician or Electrician through the technical requirements that are needed to install a modern CCTV system in a commercial application.

ASIAL Security Technician Certification (STC)

The Australian Security Industry Association Ltd (ASIAL), in conjunction with Comtech Training, is delivering the Security Technician Certification (STC) training program nationally.

Designed to provide a career pathway for security technicians, the Security Technician Certification program is also a proactive initiative to attract and retain appropriately skilled workers, capable of meeting the future needs of the industry.

What is the program?

The Security Technician Certification program is a nationally recognised program initiated by ASIAL to recognise technicians who have relevant industry experience and training. This will become the benchmark for electronic security training in Australia.

How is the program delivered?

The program is delivered through a combination of self-paced study and online assessments.

• The technician registers for the STC program via the ASIAL or Comtech website and then selects the course from the links provided

• Once the technician has been approved and pays the appropriate fee, they can log onto the online portal to start their training

• Once the technician has completed all units, they will receive a Statement of Completion

The Security Technician Certification program covers:

• Cabling Practices• Alarms• CCTV• Access Control• IP Networking for the Security Professional• Cyber Security

The Security Technician Certification program incorporates three levels of recognition:

1. Certified Security Technician (CST)2. Advanced Security Technician (AST)3. Master Security Technician (MST)

Apprenticeships and Traineeships in the Security Industry

Both of the below qualifications are ideal for new entrants, or for experienced technicians who want to upskill to take advantage of new and emerging technologies in the Telecommunications or Electronic Security industries.

UEE30411 - Certificate III in Data and Voice Communications

This apprenticeship is comprised of a number of short courses delivered over a period of 18-48 months incorporating in class face to face training, online content and on the job training.

This qualification incorporates the following:

Basic Electronics Design and Construct IP NetworksWHS Intruder Alarm SystemsOpen Cabling Registration CCTV SystemsCombined Endorsement Design and Construct a Wireless Network

ICT30515 - Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology

This traineeship is comprised of a number of short courses delivered over a period of 12-24 months incorporating in class face to face training, online content and on the job training.

What’s the difference between a traineeship and an apprenticeship?

The fundamental difference is the content and therefore the duration. In this case the apprenticeship is designed to take a technician through all the technical requirements of both the telecommunications and technical security industry, whereas, the traineeship allows a trainee to pick some key components more applicable to their respective job role.
